EL DORADO HILLS, CA:  April 7, 2016 – Positivity Pictures has licensed the movie rights to Gary W. Moore’s forthcoming book The Final Service, set for national release in Chicago at Book Expo America on May 11-13, 2016.

The Final Service revolves around a father-daughter relationship in 1995 torn by PTSD, a final laborious task requested by the dying father of his daughter, and the mysterious stranger “Sam,” who arrives to help her. The book’s tag line is “He arrived unannounced, when and where she needed him most.”

The Final Service is one of those rare stories that resonates with a message that strikes deep inside,” explained Theodore P. Savas, a principal with Positivity Pictures and the managing director of the publishing house that contracted with Moore to publish the first edition this spring. “After recently reading an advance galley, someone described it as ‘It’s a Wonderful Life meets The Sixth Sense.’ I think that is a perfect description and that it will make a wonderful movie.”

Moore is the award-winning author of Playing with the Enemy: A Baseball Prodigy, WWII and the Long Journey Home (2006; www.playingwiththeenemy.com, winner of the Military Writers Society of America Book of the Year), and Hey Buddy: In Pursuit of Buddy Holly, My New Buddy John and My Lost Decade of Music (2011).

“There was a lot of movie interest in The Final Service even before I signed a contract for the book,” explained Moore, another principal in Positivity Pictures. “I held onto the option until now because I wanted some control over the final product, and because I knew Positivity Pictures would make an exceptional movie. To say I am excited is an understatement.” Moore’s first book, Playing with the Enemy, was also optioned, but fell out of financing several times in the past eight years. Moore now holds the rights to it as well.

Kieth Merrill, an Academy Award-winning Hollywood veteran and member of Positivity Pictures agrees. “Faith-based movies with an uplifting message are popular at the box office for a good reason,” explained Merrill. “And those are precisely the type of movies we want to make: uplifting, wholesome pictures with a positive, inspirational, feel-good takeaway.”

The Final Service is now in pre-production. The director and screenwriter will be announced soon. Positivity Pictures LLC is in negotiation for several properties, and The Final Service is the first to be announced.

Positivity Pictures, LLC, is a Nevada corporation based in California organized to seek out, obtain, develop, and produce high-quality movies with an uplifting and inspiring message.
