As a people, both as a demographic and individually, one of our strongest characteristics historically has been speaking and conducting ourselves in a manner compatible with the truth.
It defined us as a people,to our family and friends, our tribes, clans, and friends.
With the formation of AIM a marked decline has taken place, and the nations as a whole suffer as a results, as will future generations if it isn’t addressed.
There was time when if a persons words were not respected, known not to be truthful, they became a pariah, no respect, no sense of belonging to the community, and for all intents and purposes were shunned.
We weren’t so eager to believe every story ,every claim, especially those that didn’t emanate from among our.
Yet the opposite is pretty much true today, and little if any effort is made to verify what is said or to consider the history of the speaker.
For a certainty the AIM leadership would have been numbered among the outcasts, doubtful they wouldn’t have been banned, for their proven lack of ability to speak the truth and the blatant arrogance they have become noted for in lying.
This issue is about us as a people -our backyard-and has nothing to do with any who are not of us who may have lied, unless we are to further lower our standards in saying two wrongs make a right, we want to be like them, or seek to absolve someone among us for doing the same thing we denounce in others.
For those who want to talk about traditions they should understand ALL our traditions began with and were validated on speaking the truth in all things.
Without that element in our culture and our hearts we are less than what we have been and what we could and should be.
Four and half decades- a generation, or possibly two, and the cultural impact produced by AIM is nothing short of devastating, from the murders they committed to the corruption and marketing of our ceremonies.
The government lies to us, what’s new about that?
Our own do? That’s new ,and for some becoming a tradition.
