The Onondaga Nation has long worked to protect the environment both in their small remaining territory and across the globe. The most recent threat they face is the I81 Pipeline, a project closely tied with the effort to open up New York State to fracking for natural gas. They are looking for support from neighbors and supporters to stop this development.
The Stop the I-81 Pipeline Project is presenting a community presentation on Tuesday, November 19 about the proposed high pressure gas pipeline from Johnson City to Syracuse. The presentation will explain the impacts on the towns of Onondaga, LaFayette, Tully and others. These implications include: health problems, safety risks, landowner liability, mortgage issues, insurance issues, loss of property value, future land development, environmental threats and many more.
Come out to LaFayette Jr/Sr High School Auditorium, 3122 Route 11, LaFayette, NY, 13084, starting at 6:30 pm. The event is free and open to the public.
