Constitutional Crisis: Obama to use Executive Order to Raise Debt Ceiling?
There are some stories around the edges of the Internet about Obama using Executive Order to raise the Federal Debt Ceiling. Normally, as a past politcial operative, I would discount such hyperbole. This would be an absolute direct act of treason against the Constitution. However, one needs wonder about such a move at this point. Obama has run rough shod over everything from the illegal Gulf Cleanup Fund to not letting anyone physically examine his "short-form" birth certifcate, to halting Boeing from moving a plant-not to mention EPA power grabs and illegal Libyans wars. With the Mainstream media and mainstream Democrats and Communists behind him, Obama has lots of support to increase the National Debt. Let's take a look at what such an Executive Debt order would do.
First of all it motivates his base. Those groups representing entitilements will cheer him on. Obama is loosing enthusism (not support) in core liberal groups. They love extra-constitutional acts of defiance like this by a leader. The Van Jones' of the world, the Communist Party USA, NAACP, ACLU and variety of other groups, along with the media, will spin this and cheer him on. Similarly La Raza, Acorn and a host of other groups that get Taxpayor financial support from Obama have a great reason to get even more active.
Secondly, its a move to provke. Any act of violence or anger real or imagined from fiscally conservative people will leave them demonized. They will be painted as radicals and extremists. The media will spin this as a country vs. terrorist issue.
Thridly, used or not its a good distraction and trial balloon. If its a gambit that does not work out it takes the focus off Libya, the EPA and other power grabs. If stopped everyone would be so relieved to have defeated it that they would not be focused on all of the other balls Obama's people are rolling down the road.
The real questions is if and when. But rest assured-it's a real possibilty, and with Democrats going against the Constiutiion and sure to support Obama not matter what the case. Its a real possbility.
