The End of the Obama Illusion

President Obama is shattering the illusions of his supporters, and eyes are opening, even among his former media allies. As if waking from a slumber, a newly aggressive White House press corps yesterday raked Jay Carney over the coals over various lies and evasions, prompting Megyn Kelley of Fox News to quip “What’s happened? Who are these reporters who showed up here?”
They are disillusioned and angry liberals who are starting to grasp that they have been lied to, who realize that a skeptical stance is necessary when examining a narrative offered by team Obama on Benghazi or the IRS scandal.
Even worse, the media have discovered that they are themselves targets of government abuse, just like
those Tea Partiers the IRS was picking on. The Associated Press, whose newsroom and reporters’ personal phone line records were secretly subpoenaed, is collectively owned by members of the mainstream media. As the largest newsgathering organization in the country, it stands for media freedom itself in their minds. An attack on it is an attack on them.
Right now, there’s a lot of cognitive dissonance going on in the punditocracy: how could a constitutional law professor turn on the free press? Obama’s just not behaving like the good guy they thought him to be. Awkward questions of character are being raised in their minds.

bout imeffing time!! not that i believe it’ll last.
I’m so happy to hear that Obama’s adoring media fan clubs, such as MSNBC, and like members of the Democratic party who have for years refused to see the entire picture, and who not very long ago slathered kisses upon his feet – are finally waking up. As a child of liberal hippies I was raised as a Democrat, conditioned to believe that Republicans were the beginning, middle and end of all the problems in this country, and that if we could just get them to sit down and shut up, all would be well. I still believed this in 2008 when I voted for Obama like a fauning lapdog, tears in my eyes as I watched the inauguration. OMG, it seems like a lifetime ago that I was she! Thank God that during the past two+ years I finally began to connect the dots, to count the number of broken promises, and to define the flagrant departures from Policies known to be consistent with Democratic beliefs. When I finally began to see that the Emperor, whom his supporters insisted was wearing resplendent robes, was in truth naked as Hell.
I think I will not define myself beneath the umbrella of a political party ever again. I agree with some conservative viewpoints, like the right to bear arms and that abortion is fundamentally wrong. Yet I also appreciate the environmental emphasis offered up by the Green Party as well as the wisdom of the Libertarians who’ve educated so many of us that the U.S.’ unnecessary wars ovreseas are guaranteed to cause blowback. I personally believe that political parties need to be scrubbed from our language. And either new ones should be created that more accurately reflect the emergence of Americans like me who won’t be boxed into a neat, tidy package of singular beliefs. Or we should just recognize that labels are ultimately meaningless. Judge a politician by the acts not the party name bestowed upon them.
Obama is going down. He’s done a slick job of side-stepping the birther movement and all other challenges made against his presidency, but this time I think he’s fresh out of side-steps. And talk about a dam breaking wide open. Any one of the latest scandals could be enough to topple him, but just to be sure, he’s flanked on all sides by the sour fruits of his own deceit. I wonder how messy this is going to get. Although I must admit having staunch Zionist Joe Biden temporarily serving as President would be horrifying as well. So the entire lot of them ought to be relieved of their duties.
