Iran: Obama Reaping What He Has Sown

The verse tells us everything one does has repercussions. Therefore, the inability to escape the consequences of our actions should motivate us to take positive actions, even when difficult to do so, and thus avoid negative consequences.

In one word, we are talking about karma.

Obama’s actions vis-à-vis Iran have generated a lot of karma-and it has not been of the good kind. That should be most telling about his foreign policy towards Iran.

Obama has failed to heed the advice of seasoned experts who understand that which he clearly does not-the mullahs’ mindset. Obama takes the narcissistic approach that he alone can deal with the mullahs. It existed even before he was elected president, blinding him to the counsel of others.

In 2008, presidential candidate Obama sent a secret emissary-Ambassador William Miller-to Iran to inform the mullahs to await his election to negotiate a nuclear deal in a friendlier environment.

While Obama failed to understand the mullahs’ mindset, they quickly understood his. They knew exactly when Obama was born for, as the saying goes, “There’s one (a sucker) born every minute.”

Obama is not the only President to believe he knew better than seasoned experts on how to deal with an adversary.

President Jimmy Carter took the same narcissistic approach in dealing with the Soviet Union during the Cold War. His ineptness in understanding the Soviet mindset when he was-but not the experts trying to advise him-surprised by Moscow’s sudden 1979 Afghanistan invasion. The only protest Carter could muster was to lead a boycott of the 1980 Olympic games being held in Moscow.

Carter learned too late, as a single term president, he had misread Soviet intentions. Coupled with his inability to understand the Iranian mullahs mindset as well-resulting in the seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran and taking its personnel hostage-Carter had only four years to exercise his ineptness.

Obama is now six years into an eight-year term in which there is no indication he has yet grasped the fact dealing with Iran’s mullahs is dealing with the devil.

One need only examine Obama’s foolish “no-holds-barred” focus on converting Iran from enemy to ally-an effort that has immensely benefitted Tehran while gravely endangered U.S. national security interests.

It is no wonder the nuclear talks have dragged on for so long. Obama has been releasing billions of dollars in restricted funds to the keep the mullahs engaged in the talks.
