Monty Pelerin / Economic Noise

As his second term nears its final lap, Barack Obama is desperately trying to do something right. After all, his legacy depends on it.

Maureen Dowd wrote a column entitled Flickering Greatness. She may have seen “greatness” as did many of her other liberal friends. But the majority of the people never saw any greatness, even many if not a majority of those who voted for Obama. They may have been fooled by him as were so many shallow people. But greatness????

Whatever was imagined about Obama did not come about. Now people worry about his legacy. Websterdefines legacy as follows:

something transmitted by or received from an ancestor or predecessor or from the past

legacy1obamaleaderThis definition suggests everyone leaves a legacy of some sort. While it is often implied that “legacy” is something good, it applies to anything that someone is remembered for. The problem for Obama is that his legacy appears to be only negative. That is what the growing panic among his supporters is about. Messiahs are supposed to do good not harm. But legacies do not change based on a single piece of legislation. ObamaCare was that single piece that was to cement Obama in history. Well, it likely has but only as the sponsor of the worst legislation in more than a half century.

The fraud that is Barack Obama is not new. Anyone with open eyes or an IQ above room temperature in an air-conditioned home saw through this carnival barker from the beginning. His legacy, which he and his press minions drone on about endlessly, will be that his photo appear in the dictionary under the definition of leadership. Unfortunately, it will appear in the antonym section of that definition. His image might also appear with the definition of incompetence. However, in order to make that claim, one must know what his goals were. If you don’t know goals it is easy to assume incompetence when actual evil might be at work. Evil and incompetence are not mutually exclusive.

While people might debate the incompetence versus evil issue, that argument is moot. Few, perhaps even Ms. Dowd, would claim him to be competent in anything related to the administrative aspects of his office. Let’s look at a few of Obama’s “accomplishments:”

  • destroyed the economy of the US
  • presided over the longest recession/depression since the Great Depression
  • greatly expanded the welfare roles
  • ruined the best healthcare system in the world
  • made the US hopelessly insolvent
  • destroyed trust among allies and emboldened enemies
  • impoverished the American worker
  • reduced the geopolitical security of the world
  • substantially weakened the Constitution and the notion of three separate but equal branches of government
  • worsened dangerously race relations in this country
  • diminished the Office of the President by lying routinely to the electorate
  • diminished his office by stonewalling on investigations and information requests
  • paved the way for Iran to obtain nuclear weapons
  • still is either clueless or unconcerned about the threat of ISIS (which is not Islamic even though it is in their name)

This list is only partial. A careful review would more than double its length.
