(Before It's News)

By Javier Manjarres

The Democrat long knives are still out for Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, as they are attempting to undercut her possible ascension to a leadership position with the U.S. Congress. Democratic sources have confirmed to the Shark Tank that a substantial rift exists between Wasserman Schultz and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, and they are presently at odds with one another. As we’ve previously reported, Wasserman Schultz will not be back as the Chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) regardless if President Obama wins re-election or not.

Wasserman Schultz is undoubtedly cashing in all her political chits at this point, and has likely calculated that she may not be back as the DNC Chairwoman and is positioning herself as one of the few ‘short-listers’ for Pelosi’s current leadership position were Pelosi to decide not to seek the position again.

House members, staffers, and party strategists who discussed Wasserman Schultz and internal party machinations did so on the condition of anonymity. That’s because they publicly must stick to the party message that Democrats have a majority to win back and, in doing so, return the speaker’s gavel to the only woman ever to hold it— Pelosi. But Wasserman Schultz’s ‘healthy’ antagonistic demeanor towards her fellow colleagues goes back to her days in the Florida legislature.  During her time in the Florida House of Representatives, Wasserman Schultz actively worked against her fellow Democrat colleague Lois Frankel who also was seeking a leadership position in the Florida Legislature. Frankel is currently running for the U.S. Congress in the 22rd congressional district against Republican Adam Hasner.

Wasserman Schultz’ ‘family feud’ with Frankel carried over into the 2012 Democratic congressional primary, as Wasserman Schultz is reported to have actively supported and campaigned behind the scenes for Frankel’s primary opponent Kristin Jacobs.

But the Shark Tank has learned that Wasserman Schultz not only experienced resistance about her ambitions for higher office from fellow Democrats, but also from within her own family. In 2002, then state senator Wasserman Schultz considered running for leadership in the Florida Legislature, but she was met by opposition from her husband Steve who supported her leadership aspirations only under the condition that she ‘sign off’ on a written agreement between the two.

Mr. Schultz actually made his wife sign a written contract at the family dinner table which stipulated that Debbie would be responsible for washing the family dog and cleaning out the kitty litter box among other ‘husband and wife’ interactions.
