Wouldn’t it be nice to see a shooter win an award for “the most outstanding amateur athlete in the United States”? You could help make it happen:
Olympic champion Ginny Thrasher is one of 18 amateur athletes selected as a semifinalist for the 2016 Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) James E. Sullivan Award.
Family, friends, fans and the shooting sports community can now come together to help try and move Thrasher to one of six AAU Sullivan Award Finalists. … With just two clicks and no e-mail information to leave behind, you can vote daily now through Monday.
Her qualifications:
-2016 Olympic gold medalist in 10m air rifle (first gold for the U.S.)
-2016 NCAA Champion in smallbore and air rifle (first freshman to sweep NCAA individual titles)
-2016 NCAA Championships Top Performer
-2016 NRA All-America First Team Air Rifle
-2016 CRCA All-America First Team
-2016 GARC Smallbore Champion
-2016 GARC Rookie of the Year
-2016 All-GARC First Team Air Rifle
-2016 CRCA All-Academic Team
Progressives would like to marginalize and eventually banish shooting sports. Acknowledging the accomplishments of athletes like Ginny Thrasher will make that harder to do.
