We remember Lesley Gore (1946-2015)

Lesley Sue Goldstein was born in New York in March 1946 and died in 2015.     We know her as Lesley Gore.

She was a real favorite a couple of years before The Beatles.   It was those years between Elvis going into the US Army and The Beatles appearing on The Ed Sullivan Show.

I don’t recall any of her songs until “California Nights” showed up in a Batman episode.    In the mid-1970s, I got into the pre-Beatles era following the release of “American Graffiti” and heard more of her songs.  

Lesley was cute and very clean.  She was also a hit-making machine.  Her biggest hit was “It’s my party”, a song that keeps popping up in movie soundtracks.
