(Before It's News)

We’ve posted about ABBA a couple of times before.

We posted about their induction into the Rockn’ Roll Hall of Fame a couple of years ago.

I really liked “Fernando” and “Dancing queen”.

We posted birthday greetings to Anni and Agnetha.   I don’t care about the two guys.  It’s nothing personal but the girls were more interesting.

Wonder how many Americans appreciate how big ABBA was around the world?  They had their hits in the US but nothing like everywhere else.  They were big and that’s all you can say.

Back in 1974, ABBA won a European prize and it launched the group:
“ABBA’s win at the annual Eurovision Song Contest on this day in 1974 launched the group on its monumental international career, marking the first and still only time that the Eurovision Song Contest crowned a previously unknown winner destined for legitimate superstardom.”

It took a couple of years for ABBA to click in the US.  However, they did in 1976 and the rest is history.
My first exposure to ABBA was listening to the radio in 1976 and hearing a song called “I do, I do, I do”.  Again, I was convinced that they were the best two looking girls in Sweden.  Today, ABBA’s music can be heard in the movie “Mamma mia” or Bjoen expressing opinions about a “cashless world”.
Click here for ABBA’s “Waterloo”.  It wasn’t really about Napoleon & Waterloo but none of us was angry with the girls for their view of history:
