Came across the graphic below recently. What you see is the stark contrast between the Free Market, and government subsidized markets. The result is equally clear. Where people are allowed to work independent of government interference, prices come down. More and more can afford things. This helps everyone. By contrast, when the government gets involved, absent much of the Free Market motivation to provide better service/products at lower cost, those costs skyrocket, debt explodes, and eventually, overall quality of life goes down.

It see this kind of picture and it scares the hell out of me because I know we have been dancing with the government subsidy devil for far too long in this country. It’s unsustainable, and the youth of today will be the slaves of an economic prison tomorrow.

Starting with the Bush administration and then accelerated with the Obama administration, the federal government largely took over the financing of tuition in our universities. The result has been an astonishing fiscal disaster. Costs have skyrocketed. Student debt is now a ticking time bomb. Quality of that same education has declined.

It doesn’t matter which political party you subscribe to (if you subscribe to any at all) BOTH are to blame for this catastrophe. Health care is much the same. More federal government involvement, skyrocketing costs. Talk to those working in the healthcare industry. Doctors are choosing early retirement. Fewer and fewer are entering the profession to fill the void. Those still there are seeing workloads double and triple which in turn results in less time per patient and less quality care. Doctors are doctoring less and prescribing pills more – much to the delight of the pharmaceuticals who spend tens of millions every year lobbying D.C. politicians to keep that status-quo going.

Food and housing are becoming increasingly regulated. The result? Costs continue to climb. Young people entering college and/or the workforce today are looking at a not-too-distant future when their housing choices will go from these:

To these:

The one on the left is government subsidized housing in the then- Soviet Union. On the right is a government subsidized housing project in Detroit. Two different nations, both practicing the same failed principle of eliminating the Free Market with grim results for the people themselves.

America was once a place where people came from all over the world to participate in the potential of freedom and opportunity. That meant opportunity to succeed or fail. Many did both – and a country was made far stronger because of it. Now, the government would convince us that the chance of failure can be removed, but that means so too is the chance of success, of choice, of liberty and freedom. We all become slaves to the government plantation. White Americans. Black Americans. Asian and Hispanic Americans. Straight and gay and transgender, Christian, Muslim, Jew, atheist, agnostic – none of us are safe from the crack of the government slave master’s whip.

Without freedom and opportunity (and chance of failure) there would have been no Ford Motor Company. No IBM. No AT&T. No Apple. No Amazon. And all the other remarkable success stories that created millions of jobs and gave millions more Americans the chance to earn wages, create lives, and enjoy their success.

All of that is being taken away from us, and from those who will follow us. Look at that chart above and tell me I’m wrong.

  • Worthless democrats sucking off everyone. How outrageous, they’ve wrecked public education at every level and still manage to skin you.

  • Textbooks and college tuition are so high because the democrat LOSERS have to pay for Hillary’s worthless speeches at a quarter of a million a pop.
