Now, what I find notable is that almost without exception all of the Marian apparitions over the last few hundred years have something in common, when you investigate:
Our Lady of Guadalupe (1531) – Seen by Juan Diego on the Hill of Tepeyac, near Mexico City. The Tepeyac hill has numerous lava caves at its base, and was the site of a shrine to Tonantzin, the mother goddess of the Pre-Columbian cultures. There was shrine to her at the hill which was torn down by the Christian priests.
Our Lady of Lourdes (1858) – Appeared to Bernadette Soubirous in grotto (cavern) in the Pyrenees Mountains in southwestern France. The Lourdes Shrine has a miraculous spring that issues from a cleft in the limestone at the back of the cavern. The Pyrenees are the site of innumerable ancient shrines, all dedicated to the earth goddess. They are also the sites of the earliest cave paintings known to science, all of which have shamanic and religious symbolism.
Our Lady of Fatima (1917) – Appeared to three children on a hill outside of Fatima, Portugal. The Fatima region is the most cavernous area in all of Portugal. There are several large sinkholes and caverns on the Fatima hill.
Our Lady of Medjugorje (1981) – Appeared to six Bosnian children on the hill Crnica, in Bosnia-Herzegovina (former Yugoslavia). The hill and surrounding terrain are all composed of Cretaceous carbonates and marls, and contain many caverns.
I get the distinct feeling there is a pattern here… if’n you get my meaning.
