Sunday Bun

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? Luke 11:13
All of us have an earthly Father. For some of us just thinking about our earthly father can cause us to spin out of control. Sons have been beaten by their earthly fathers and daughters have been molested by them. Others have been abandoned and still others do not know who their father is.
Our heavenly Father, is not like our earthly father. He is loving, kind and good. We are told in the scripture to call him Abba, which translated is like calling Him, Daddy.
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Romans 8:15
When we come to Him through His son, Yashua/Jesus we receive a spirit of adoption, and this changes our standing with Him.
For some of us Father’s Day is a reminder of the abuse we received at the hands of our earthly fathers. The day is a painful reminder of memories we would rather not recall.
The good news and what will set us free is this. We should pray and forgive, no matter what the hurt is. If our father is no longer here on earth, we should pray anyway and ask our Heavenly father to forgive, heal and restore. This is what being a Christian is about. We can be free of the past, if the son sets you free you are free indeed. John 8:36
In closing todays Bun. My father has Alzheimer’s and no longer recognizes me as his son. My hope is that the Lord will take him in his sleep and set him free. I also know that I will see him again when we are all gathered to meet the Lord in the air, for the dead in Christ will rise first. 1Thessaolonians 4:16
I love my earthly father and have good memories of laughter and love, so I am a blessed man in that regard. Yet, I know my heavenly father loves me and cares for me in ways my earthly father can never match. Happy Fathers Day to both of them, but first to my Father who is in heaven….
