During the fighting with Gaza, both military members and civilians in Israel have reported experiencing miracles which they claim have protected them from harm.

An Israel Defense Forces Brigade commander, who is a religious Jew, says that a divine miracle protected his Soldiers one morning in Gaza. After the pre-dawn raid they had been planning was delayed, his soldiers were in danger of detection as the sun would soon rise, revealing their location.

Col Ofer Winter said that out of nowhere a heavy fog descended which concealed their movements until their objective was achieved. He described his experience like something that could have taken place in the Bible. Winter referenced the clouds in the Bible that protected the Israelites as they wondered through the desert:

“Suddenly a cloud protected us. Clouds of glory.”

Col. Winter said the clouds did not disappear until after his soldiers were in a secure position:

“Only when the soldiers were in a secure position did the fog dissipate. It really was a fulfillment of the verse ‘For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to give you victory.” Winter said, referring to a verse in Deuteronomy.

Col. Winter compared his experience to the story in Exodus when the Israelites were fleeing Egypt and were crossing the Red Sea.

“When a person is in a life-threatening situation he connects with his deepest internal truths, and when that happens, even the biggest atheist meets God. Soldiers experience so many miracles that it is hard not to believe [in God],” Winter said.

The second miracle was reported by a group of civilian farmers in early July, before the fighting against Hamas began. A group of religious Jews had traveled to southern Israel to harvest their wheat. They had left for their journey early in order to comply with the biblical mandate which requires them to harvest before the sabbatical year. Israelis are supposed to allow the land to rest during the final year of the seven-year agricultural cycle, which would be starting the following month. That would mean that once the sabbatical year began, no planting or harvesting would be allowed. The farmers in the area would have to harvest extra wheat which would have to last for two years. Aharon Samet was interviewed with the radio show known as “Upside Down” and reported what he claims was a miracle:

“This year we are before the sabbatical year, and we need to harvest wheat for two years. We plowed the land up and down looking for wheat that was sown late what with the rains that fell late this year. On Kibbutz Sufa on the Gaza border we found an entire field that was sown in mid-January, which is considered very unusual.”

Another miracle occurred only weeks later, after the fighting between Israel and Hamas was reaching its pinnacle.

‘Clouds of Glory’: Israelis Report Biblical-like Miracles While Fighting Hamas

The event occurred on July 17 when Hamas militants had infiltrated Israel through a tunnel near Kibbutz Sufa, a spot where the men had been farming. Prior to this event, there had been giant wheat in the field which the terrorists had been using to camouflage their movements. When the militants reached the exit of the tunnel however, they discovered that the wheat field had completely disappeared. Now left completely exposed, the IDF surveillance was able to spot them as soon as they began to emerge from their holes.

Miracles? Or just pure coincidence? Whether you accept these events as miraculous occurrences, does not change the reality of for these believers.
