I have to admit I’m pretty confused by this one. First of all I can’t pronounce the name of this creature, and I’m not even going to attempt to spell it. Secondly, they are offering a reward for proof that it exists, but according to the following article, an Iceland “Truth Commission” has already decided it really does exist based on the video of the supposed creature shot in 2012, which you can view below. If you’re thinking about hopping on a plane, and possibly a boat, to prove the lake worm’s existence and collect your fortune, the reward offered comes out to about $4,300 U.S.
“Lagarfljótsormurinn also known as Lagarfljót worm or Lagarfljot Lake Monster is a cryptid said to inhabit the waters of lake Lagarfljót in Iceland. A truth commission of 13 people has determined that a video of the giant serpent like creature shot back in 2012 proves it does exists. The video shot by Hjörtur E. Kjerúlf now determined to be authentic is now entitled to a prize offered for proof of the monster valued at ISK 500,000 (EUR 3,300, USD 4,300).”
