Here is what 21st prophets and futurologists like Ray Kurzweill and Arthur C. Clarke believe the world will look like in 1000 years.
According to Futurist and Inventor Arthur C. Clarke, technology is so advanced that making contact with aliens seems to be a plausible situation. In fact, there are some people out there who will argue that they already saw aliens and were even abducted by them. So it’s not too far fetched for futurists to predict a world where humans are able to travel beyond our realm and encounter other plants and life that we never knew existed.
Global Warming has been a pressing issue on the global stage. There have been so many meetings among global leaders, in Copenhagen, Paris and Kyoto, but nothing has been able to halt the environmental destruction that many of the first world countries are guilty of committing. Ray Kurzweill argues that the world will not become a polluted place like many climate control theories argue. He believes that nanotechnology will be able to clean up the environmental damage we’ve done to date, meet our needs for energy and purify our air and water.
It is estimated that in 1000 years from now our population will reach 14 billion. Although these predictions tend to be inaccurate, the concern among the people is real and more and more people are looking to find a viable solution. 1000 years from now, Kurzweill argues that we be taking our nutrition like plants take in the sun as technology grows so will our earth’s resources. This will mean that we will be less and less dependent on natural resources to live.
So they surmise, as time goes on and medicine gets better and we live longer- new alternatives to the traditional marriages will materialize. Marriage contracts lasting a few years may become accessible for future generations as a result of people living longer than before. Old school will still be an option…but, who would want those in 1000 years?
With a growing population and the need for space, this would seem obvious. Climate control theorists argue that deserts will become obsolete and will be replaced by tropical forests, in a process they term as “desert greening”. I rather believe that we’ll have the technology to make deserts more livable areas and less humid as they are nowadays.
