Reports out of Syria indicate that an Israeli officer has been killed during a meeting with commanders of foreign-backed militants of the so-called Free Syrian Army.

Arab-language news channel al-Mayadeen and Lebanese news agency al-Akhbar have broke the news. Based on their news, the Israeli officer was injured by a live round a few days ago while Syrian ground and air forces launched an attack on a militant hideout in Quneitra, southwest of Syria. A number of Israelis officials and their Jordanian counterparts reportedly were meeting with F-S-A leaders in the town of Fitian. The focus of the gathering has been on planning offensives on Dara’a and Quneitra to counter the advances of the Syrian army and Hezbollah fighters in the region.
