Escape From Bullock County
While former Alabama State Senator Myron Penn and the Mayor of Union Springs have focused their attention on the burning issue of Confederate flags decorating Confederate graves in a Confederate cemetery on Confederate Memorial Day, the real problems facing the city and county are being neglected:
Has anyone noticed all these yard signs which have sprouted up in Union Springs? Who are the Bullock County Crimestoppers?
“A shooting on Highway 82 in Bullock County. The next day in Union Springs a minister reportedly got robbed while sipping coffee on his own front porch.
Meet the man who’s tired of it all.
“I’m fed up with the crime in Union Springs and Bullock County,” said Courtney Woodfaulk, head of the Bullock County Crimestoppers program.
Courtney Woodfaulk, born and raised in Union Springs, believes he’s answering the call to try to do something about the rising crime rate, up 40% in the last year, according to Woodfaulk. The crimes have been primarily burglaries. Woodfaulk says part of his motivation stems from a close encounter his own son had with death in Atlanta.
“My son was shot in the home invasion,” Woodfaulk said. …
What happens if you get shot by a dindu in Union Springs or Bullock County? Suppose you are bleeding out in your own home. Maybe your dear old grandmother has had a heart attack or fallen down the stairs. Well, it seems that Bullock County is so broke that it can’t even afford ambulances anymore:
“It’s a service many people count on when there’s an emergency, but Bullock County could lose its only ambulance service.
The hospital board which maintains the ambulances says it’s running out of money to pay for the service. According to hospital board member Thomas May, the ambulance service needs about $100 thousand this year to fund the costs of running ambulances. …”
Violent crime. Poverty. Unemployment. Terrible schools. Corruption. Illegal aliens. Blighted homes. Abandoned businesses. Kudzu. Such are the fruits of Myron Penn, Billy Beasley, and Mayor Saint T. Thomas Jr. A city and county so broke and hopeless that Mad Max and Rick Grimes would feel at home here.
Confederate flags …. that’s the real problem!
