Dear friends,
You might have heard that Hezbollah fighters in Syria have recently made some substantial progress against the Takfiris of IS/Daesh. They have freed several villages and taken control of several key positions near the Syrian border. I hope to get a full report about all this very soon. But today I just wanted to share with you a photo sent to me by a Lebanese friend which depicts a Hezbollah fighter “saluting the Virgin Mary and holding the picture of Her which is dear to their hearts” as my friend put it (this fighter probably found that image either in a destroyed church or inside a Christian home).

Several Terrorist Leaders Killed in Syrian Army Air Raid
Syrian fighter jets killed several militant commanders in an air raid in Idlib on Friday.
FNA dispatches from Idlib said the Syrian Air Force fighter jets staged a raid on a coordination meeting of militant commanders in Kafar Awid town in Idlib countryside and killed a large number of terrorist ringleaders.
Early reports said notorious militant commander, Abu Ahmad al-Darwish, was killed in the airstrike along with several more ringleaders.
The Syrian Air Force also bombed terrorists’ positions in the town of Safouhen in Jibel Zawiyeh. Kafar Awid is also located near Jibel Zawiyeh.
Earlier today, the Syrian fighter jets also bombed militants’ positions in Nowi, Omm Walad and Eastern Al-Kork in Daraa province, killing large groups of terrorists and destroying their equipment.
Quds Force Deputy Commander Terms ISIL “US Soldiers”
Deputy Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force Brigadier General Esmayeel Qa’ani said ISIL has been created by the US and Israel to divide and destroy Muslim states.
The General said the US and Zionism started a new era following the year 2,000 when the Lebanese Hezbollah Movement forced them to retreat from Southern Lebanon.
He said the US misused the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center to set a pretext for several wars, but was forced to experience defeat after 3 trillion dollars of war spending and a huge death toll “that they claim to stand at 5,000″.
“But after all these fruitless attempts that only discredited them, they opened a new chapter in their struggle against Islam and worked out plans to find mercenaries from among these (Muslim) nations. Then they organized and equipped these Takfiri and extremist people who neither have healthy faith in religion nor wisdom and provided them with the needed possibilities through cooperation with their dependent states and their propaganda machine,” General Qassem Soleimani’s deputy said.
“One day they created the Al-Nusra Front and another day Daesh (ISIL) or the Free (Syrian) Army that are all fed from one place with specific tasks divided among them; some are fed by Jordan some by Saudi Arabia’s money,” he continued.
“But, no matter what they are called, they are the soldiers of the US and Zionists brought up to sow discord among Islamic countries,” General Qa’ani said.
Yesterday, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani also said the western powers arm terrorists in the region with various types of weapons to have them aimed at Iran.
Ominous Warning: Additional Escalation Is Not About Saving Iraq
Official Washington has confirmed their intention to escalate the ongoing air war against ISIL as additional escalation in Iraq – something they were “forced into.”To this end, the Obama administration’s talk of the need for a complete strategy in the ISIL war will include another 450 ground troops being sent to Anbar, where all the fighting is going on.
Official Washington insists they are not involved in any ground operations, but the announcement of additional ground troops being sent into Iraq means just that. It underscores how much the US strategy centers around putting troops where ISIL might attack them and justify further escalation.
Though presented as trainers and advisers, the new ground troops will set up a brand new military base at Taqaddum, just 20 kilometers from the Anbar capital of Ramadi, which was captured by ISIL only weeks previous.
The site of the new base is being presented as necessary for the Pentagon’s determination “to get closer ties between the Iraqi military and Sunni tribal fighters,” who are centered around Anbar. Taqaddum is also right near where all the Shia volunteer forces are being rallied by the Iraqi military, and perhaps more importantly right on the front line.
Washington claims its strategy is to get the Sunnis more involved in the fighting, but it’s clear that the ultimate goal is not to shift the balance on the Iraqi government’s side.
History shows us that airstrikes and “humanitarian” bombs will not be enough to curb the rise of ISIL. The talk of additional escalation – further US military presence – will simply drive terrorism against Iraq and the region.
The flurry of escalations is an open-ended war and we all know what that means: Ensuring the death cult thrives. It’s an ominous warning. Anbar is just the next stop in America’s “humanitarian” reinvasion of the region, which is set to be much longer and much larger than anyone bargained for.
And there is a reason why the US wants to stay the course and double down with more troops, money and bombs. They want the breakup of Iraq and an indefinite continuation of the war on Syria that’s already out of control. They want to prepare the region for the big war too, a long, drawn-out conflict that has not yet happened: The Shia-Sunni War.
Additional escalation is not about denying “safe haven” to ISIL militants, disrupting the flow of foreign fighters, curbing access to foreign finances, providing humanitarian relief or responding to the death cult’s propaganda. It’s not about saving Iraq. Never.
