Three applicants selected by the Department of Health and Human Services last week aim to open New Hampshire's first four dispensaries next year, providing they can find communities willing to accept them.
That should offer some relief for people fighting illness who hope cannabis will curb their suffering. And it will be a chance for the state to get a grip on how even limited legal use of marijuana will change the political, business and cultural landscape.
