TIME censors the Pope
The American left has been all a-tizzy with Pope Francis ever since he uttered the words, “who am I to judge,” in the context of how the Church should deal with homosexuals attempting to lead a Christian life. They became less enamored with him when he campaigned against homosexual marriage, calling it ideological colonialism.
Now it has reached the point where the media is actually altering Papal statements because those statements do on comport with the media’s ideology.
A week ago, the Pope did a virtual town hall hosted by ABC News. In it he said:
The pope praised Rosemary Farfan, 31, for caring for her two young daughters by herself. The family had been living at the Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women and Children, a program of Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, but left in June to move into their first apartment.
“I know it’s not easy to be a single mother,” Francis said. “I know that people can sometimes look askance at you, but I’ll tell you one thing, you’re a brave woman because you’re capable of bringing these two daughters into the world.”
“You could have killed them inside your womb, and you respected life,” the pope continued. “You respected the life you were carrying inside you, and God is going to reward you for that, and he does reward you for that. Don’t be ashamed. Hold your head high. ‘I didn’t kill my daughters. I brought them into the world.’ I congratulate you. I congratulate you, and God bless you.”
As an aside, I think it was an indication of how little Pope Francis understands the cultural rot in America that he, sort of pollyannishly, thinks that a stigma still attaches to a woman having children out of wedlock.
When TIME reported on the event, this is the quote they used.

You respected the life you were carrying inside you and God is going to reward you for that and he does reward for you for that. Don’t be ashamed. I congratulate you.
See what they did there? The reference to killing her daughters is nowhere to be found because that would tell TIME’s readers that the Pope knows that abortion is merely infanticide in utero.
TIME has since corrected the quote and has this note:
The original version of this article incompletely quoted Pope Francis’ response to a young woman about the difficulties of being a single mother.
