On September 2, Russia chairs the UN Security Council to supervise the work of the body for a whole month.

At the end of the month, a special meeting will be conducted to discuss the problems of the Middle East and North Africa.

In September, the United Nations will discuss issues of preserving peace and showing resistance to terrorist groups.

Strangely enough, the Ukrainian crisis is not on the agenda.

Konstantin Kalachev, a political scientist

“It is important to start with the issues that unite countries, rather than separate them. It goes without saying that Russia and the West share different approaches to the problem of Ukraine. Therefore, one needs to pick the topics that require joint action and efforts – the topics that have to be addressed immediately to prevent a humanitarian disaster.

The fact that Vladimir Putin will speak at the 70th session of the UN General Assembly already demonstrates that Russia is far from being in isolation, as Western leaders are trying to portray it to be.”
