Obama’s Illegal War on Whistleblowers Has Crossed a Fine Line (Videos)

The list of unconstitutional and illegal acts committed by our current lawless president is long, and contains many heinous acts that as Americans, we can only hope get reversed the hour after he leaves office (assuming Obama leaves office). Some experts would argue that perhaps the most serious of all the “Obaminations” has been Barack’s ruthless attack on those who have shined light into the dark crevasses a snake like him slithers to and from. We used to live in a nation where rule of law was the standard, and as such, we have the Whistleblower Protection Act, not that you would know anything about it after Obama’s seven year reign of tyranny, and his full assault on whistleblowers.

The Whistleblower Protection Act of 1989 (WPA) is a law that protects federal government employees in the United States from retaliatory action for voluntarily disclosing information about dishonest or illegal activities occurring at a government organization.

Liberals are quick to tell us “Obamacare is the law of the land,” or that “Gay marriage is the law of the land,” so is not the Whistleblower Protection Act the law of the land too? Apparently not for His Highness’s Ass. I would argue it’s the only one of the three that actually IS a REAL law, since it is the only law that was passed by both Houses of Congress and signed into law by a president as constitutionally required. The other two are no more than Judicial Decree, yet somehow they get more deference from the President of the United States than ACTUAL law? Nowhere in Article III of the Constitution does the Supreme Court have the right to make law, but I digress. Obama ignores the Constitution of the United States daily, so why would anyone expect him to follow any other law?

Most Americans have heard of Edward Snowden, but how many have heard of former Justice Department ETHICS advisor Jessalyn Radack, former CIA analyst John Kiriakou, and former NSA executive Thomas Drake? What about Michael Hastings? Waterboarding was the media term of the year during all the talk about “enhanced interrogations,” but how many people know there WERE deaths, and other much more horrible forms of torture including rectal penetration on prisoners was used?

Recently on Coast to Coast, George Knapp was joined by Academy Award nominated director James Spione, who discussed his film Silenced (trailer below), which deals with Washington’s increasingly Draconian response to whistleblowers, and the devastating personal toll on those who’ve questioned official national security policy. Two of the three whistleblowers highlighted in the film, John Kiriakou and Thomas Drake, also joined the program to share their experiences and reflect on how their lives were affected once they found themselves in the crosshairs of a vindictive federal government.

Obama’s rationale for attacking whistleblowers: By ousting government officials for conducting themselves in a blatantly unlawful manner, actual WHISTLEBLOWERS somehow are guilty of violating the Espionage Act? I suppose that makes to a man who lives a land where the Unicorn still runs wild.

In the second video, Edward Snowden’s lawyer discusses the TRUTH about what happens to whistleblowers, and why their vindictive government forces them to take the actions many later criticize. It was during the first Democratic presidential debate, Hillary Clinton herself denounced Edward Snowden as a criminal who simply refused to work through official channels. “He broke the laws,” said Clinton. “He could have been a whistleblower, he could have gotten all the protections of being a whistleblower.”

Would Edward Snowden be better off had he gone through official channels to blow the whistle? No way, says his lawyer, Jesselyn Radack of ExposeFacts.org.

In an interview with Nick Gillespie, Jesselyn Radack points to intelligence whistleblowers who came before Snowden as evidence that her client would not have been provided legal protections. “Tom Drake, Bill Binney, Kirk Wiebe, and Ed Loomis did go through the proper channels,” she tells Reason TV, “and all of them fell under criminal investigations for having done so.”

“For the people out there shouting that Edward Snowden should have gone through proper channels,” she continues, “there aren’t that many channels for national security and intelligence whistleblowers. They are excluded from most avenues available to other whistleblowers.”

And when they do expose ugly, sometimes-unconstitutional behavior on the part of the government, the whistleblowers are more likely than not to be the ones hauled into interrogation rooms.

Radack discusses Snowden’s future, why she left the Justice Department to defend whistleblowers, how the U.S. government is waging a war on information, and the rising tide of whistleblowing about the military use of drones.
