New Poll Indicates Colorado Not High Enough To Choose Clinton

(Before It's News)

A new Quinnipiac poll released today shows the likely Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, could be in trouble in the swing state of Colorado.

Clinton trails in the latest poll conducted in the state with a double digit deficit against all the top Republican candidates. She also leads the poll as the top Democratic candidate with 55 percent, compared to Bernie Sanders’ 27 percent.

In a matchup between Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) 93% vs Clinton, Rubio tops her in the poll by an astonishing 16 percentage points, leading 52-36.  Dr. Ben Carson is not far behind, grasping a solid lead in a Carson vs Clinton matchup with 14 points.  Even Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100% beats out Clinton by 13 points, as does Donald Trump by 11 points.

Another key finding in this poll: Hillary Clinton actually had the lowest favorability rating of any top candidate running for President, whether Republican or Democrat.

“Clinton has the lowest favorability rating of any top candidate in Colorado, a negative 33-61 percent.  Trump also gets a negative 34-58 percent favorability rating.  Favorability ratings for other candidates are:
49-30 percent positive for Carson;
46-25 percent for Rubio;
37-33 percent for Cruz;
40-37 percent for Sanders.”

Further, when asked the question of whether they found each candidate honest and trustworthy, the voters overwhelmingly indicated that they did not trust her.

“Colorado voters say 67 – 30 percent that Clinton is not honest and trustworthy and 57 – 37 percent that Trump is not honest. Rubio has the best score for honesty, 58 – 28 percent, with Sanders at 56 – 30 percent, Carson at 57 – 33 percent and Cruz at 50 – 35 percent”

This is a wide enough margin that should give the Clinton campaign pause.   Again, this is Colorado, the same state that voted for Barack Obama in both 2008 and 2012. It is difficult to imagine a scenario in which Hillary loses Colorado by double digits and wins the general election at all. When the people there trust you less than they trust Donald Trump, you know you have a problem.

Speaking of Trump, 32% of the Republicans polled indicated they would not vote for Trump.  Trump also came in third among Republicans, who chose Ben Carson with 25% and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) 93% with 19% of the vote.   Trump only received 17 percent.

So, if this latest poll is any indication, Colorado does not favor Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump.  Two for two, Colorado.  Consider me impressed.

As far as Hillary Clinton goes, Republicans should proceed with caution, but this is a welcome sign for them as they narrow down their nominee choice.  Now, if they just can dump the Trump circus, they may have a shot at actually winning the Presidency.
