Israeli forces attack Palestinians at al-Khalil funeral

http://www.presstv.ir/Detail/2015/10/31/435726/Israel-Palestine-alKhalil-West-Bank-alAqsa

Clashes have erupted at the funeral procession for five Palestinian teenagers killed by Israeli forces in the recent wave of aggression against Palestinians in the occupied territories.

Thousands of mourners attended the funeral for the teenagers, including two girls, on Saturday in the occupied West Bank city of al-Khalil (Hebron) after Israeli authorities returned their bodies.

The Palestinians carried national flags and chanted anti-Israeli slogans when skirmishes broke out between them and Israeli forces.

Israel refrains from returning the bodies of those killed in clashes with its forces in order to prevent mass protests that usually follow funerals.

Home to 200,000 Palestinians, al-Khalil sees frequent cases of violence as hundreds of Israeli settlers also live in the city, which has been the scene of near-daily clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinian protesters who are often left with bullet wounds or dead.

Tensions in the occupied territories have dramatically escalated in recent weeks.

The Israeli regime’s imposition of restrictions in August on the entry of Palestinian worshipers to the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) has become the lightning rod for the surge of recent confrontations.

Palestinians are also angry at increasing violence by illegal Israeli settlers, who frequently storm the al-Aqsa Mosque compound. Palestinians say the Tel Aviv regime seeks to change the status quo of the compound.

Israel:

• Israel currently has its hands full with a potential third Palestinian intifada fueled by increased Israeli raids on the Al-Aqsa mosque.

• Palestinian stabbings and car-ramming countered by increased Israeli security deployment.

• The PR from this engagement has been plentiful [Source]

• Israelis are so on edge they’ve accidentally killed each other. [Source]

• There are plans to place security cameras inside the Al-Aqsa mosques with Jordan. [Source]

• Palestinian Authority however sees the move as provocative and a trap.

• Voices for the Israeli right are demanding Israel take over the mosque. [Source]

• A Palestinian-Israeli paraglided into the Golan Heights to join up with the rebels. [Source]

• I add this because it made me wonder if modern radar can pick up groups of armed men in gliders, would organizations like Hezbollah need tunnels if they can glide low at night into Israel from the Golan Heights?

• The concept of using gliders and light airplanes has been explored by NATO to deploy Rapid Reaction infantry armed with ATGMs in a defense-in-depth paradigm during the Cold War. Their gliders were meant to carry two men, an ATGM launcher and 2-4 rockets and were powered by a motor. The teams would be dispersed by the hundreds through an area about to be overrun by Soviet tanks. They would land and set up their equipment for any incoming armor. Similar to this [Source]

• Israel has a direct military hotline to Russia, as Russia has been striking closer to the Golan Heights with no Israeli reaction it would seem that Israel is informed of anything that might concern it.

• So far Israel has not taken on any overt military actions against Hezbollah or Iranian forces in Syria.

• It was revealed the Israel at one point had asked the US for hardware to strike Iranian nuclear facilities in a commando raid. [Source]

Adolf, Amin and Bibi

By Uri Avnery

IT IS not very pleasant when serious people around the world – historians, psychiatrists, diplomats – ask themselves if my prime minister is completely sane.

But this is happening now. And not only abroad. More and more people in Israel are asking themselves the same question.

All this is the result of one event. But people are now looking at many other events – past and present – in a new light.

Until now, many strange actions and utterances by Binyamin Netanyahu have been seen as the manipulations of a clever politician, a talented demagogue who knows the soul of his constituents and supplies them with ample lies.

Not anymore. A troubling suspicion is getting around: that our prime minister has serious mental problems. Is he losing his marbles?

IT ALL started two weeks ago, when Netanyahu made a speech to a world-wide Zionist assembly. What he said was shocking.

Adolf Hitler, he pontificated, did not really want to exterminate the Jews. He just wanted to expel them. But then he met the Mufti of Jerusalem, who convinced him to “burn” the Jews. Thus the Holocaust was born.

The conclusion? Hitler was not so bad after all. The Germans are not really to blame. It was the Palestinians who were the instigators of the murder of six million Jews.

If the subject had been different, this speech could be considered as one of the usual lies and falsifications typical of Netanyahu. Hitler was really not so bad, the Palestinians are to blame, the Mufti was the forerunner of Mahmoud Abbas. Just a routine piece of political propaganda.

But this concerns the Holocaust, of the most atrocious events of modern times, and by far the most important event in modern Jewish history. This event has a direct bearing on the lives of half the Jewish population of Israel (including myself) who lost their relatives in the Holocaust, or are themselves survivors.

This speech was not just a minor political manipulation, one of those we have become accustomed to since Netanyahu became prime minister. This was something new, something awful.

ALL AROUND the world there was an outcry. There are many thousands of experts on the Holocaust. Innumerable books have been written on Nazi Germany (including one by me). Every single detail has been researched over and over again.

Holocaust survivors were shocked, because Netanyahu was really absolving Hitler, and the Germans in general, of the main blame for the horrendous crime. So Hitler was not so bad, after all. He just wanted to expel the Jews, not to kill them. It was the evil Arabs who induced him to commit the atrocity of atrocities.

Angela Merkel did the decent thing and issued an immediate denial, assuming again the total blame of the German people. Thousands of furious articles appeared around the world, many hundreds of them in Israel.

This particular utterance of Netanyahu’s was not just stupid, not just ignorant. It borders on the insane.

Israel Murdering Unarmed “Knife Wielding” Palestinians Daily

by Stephen Lendman

Israel’s endless war on Palestine continues unabated – pitting one of the world’s most powerful militaries against defenseless youths, children, women and others joining their liberating struggle.

State terrorism rages against courageous freedom fighters, an apartheid rogue state operating mercilessly, victims blamed for its high crimes.

On Saturday, another Palestinian youth died, murdered by Israel in cold blood, alleging another stabbing attempt, fabricated like most others – during what Israeli authorities called a “violent riot,” what Palestinians call resisting tyranny. They alone were injured during the incident, no Israelis.

Palestinian medics were blocked at gunpoint from aiding the victim, forced to leave. A witness told Maan News he saw multiple live rounds fired at a “young man…far from the main street.”

He threatened no one. Soldiers removed his body to an unknown location. Journalists witnessing what happened were assaulted, ordered out of the area.

As of Sunday morning local time, the Palestinian death toll stands at 72, including 12 children, two infants and a pregnant woman, other female fatalities included in the overall total – everyone victimized by Israeli viciousness.

Scores more resistance victims are being crammed into overcrowded Israeli prisons, already filled with thousands of Palestinian political prisoners.

Human rights groups condemned Israel’s “shoot-to-kill” policy, adopted by Netanyahu security cabinet officials in September. Palestinian freedom fighters are being ruthlessly gunned down in cold blood.

Others are being beaten and arbitrarily arrested, guilty of protesting for freedom. East Jerusalem neighborhoods are blockaded – no one let in or out without authorization and intrusive searches.

Open warfare against defenseless civilians is virtually ignored by Western officials, one-sidedly supporting Israeli viciousness, mindless of how many Palestinians die, how many others suffer horrifically.

Haaretz shamelessly published former Israeli defense minister/US ambassador Moshe Arens’ Big Lie, rubbish calling Palestinian “violence” another example of “worldwide Islamic terror,” adding “terrorists cannot be appeased’ – outrageously blaming victims for state-sponsored high crimes.

Israeli media have been disgracefully one-sided throughout weeks of state-sponsored brutality. Most everything they report lacks credibility, mimicking US media scoundrels.

Virtually claiming all Palestinian youths are “knife wielding terrorists.” Brave Israeli soldiers murdering defenseless protesters are national heroes – decades of brutal occupation harshness entirely ignored, along with the right of long-oppressed people to live free from apartheid ruthlessness.

Washington’s partnership with Israel is the root cause of regional violence and instability – oppressive Israeli occupation harshness responsible for ongoing heroic resistance. We’re all Palestinians in a common struggle for freedom.
