Danish voters reject adopting EU justice rules – YouTube
Denmark’s prime minister has described as a slap in the face, the Danish people’s rejection of a government proposal to adopt EU justice rules.
Lars Laki Rasmussen said the fact that over 53% of people voted no to the proposal shows there is considerable skepticism about the European project. The pro-EU prime minister had urged the voters to back the proposal. He argued that a YES vote could help Danish police in its fight against violent extremism and other cross-border crimes. The Scandinavian country now has to negotiate a special agreement with the EU if it wants to stay inside Europol, which tackles organized crime, trafficking and terrorism.
