Spain socialists refuse to back PM’s new government – YouTube
Pedro Sanchez made the remark during a news conference following talks with Rajoy in the capital Madrid. Sanchez said the Socialists would vote against the formation of the new government, adding that his party is seeking a government with progressive ideas and capacity for dialog. Mariano Rajoy’s party won Sunday’s general elections, but fell short of an absolute majority to form a cabinet. The ruling conservatives won 121 seats and the Socialists Party came in second with 92 seats in the 350-seat assembly. The new anti-austerity Podemos won third place. The rise of Podemos and other leftist parties has ended the era of two-party rule in Spain.
