This is what qualifies as hard-hitting editorial cartooning at the Washington Post: Ann Telnaes redrawing Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100%‘s children as monkeys.
That Tweet has since been deleted, of course: and now the Washington Post has yanked the editorial cartoon in question. Sans apology: because while Fred Hiatt is willing to admit that he didn’t do his job, he’s apparently not willing to admit that a Republican deserves an apology. And then there’s how CNN put all of this:

…as I noted on Twitter: no, the WaPo depicted the kids as actual monkeys. But, hey: it’s all right. Their dad’s a conservative Republican.
