The Donetsk People’s Republic Defense Ministry says the victim was a serviceman. It says the Ukrainian side has violated the truce in Donbas eleven times. This is while military sources in Ukraine claim the army’s positions have come under attack by pro-Russia fighters nearly two dozen times over the past 24 hours in Donbas. They also say 15 of the attacks happened in the period from midnight till six in the morning. Ukraine’s army and the pro-Russia fighters signed a ceasefire agreement in Minsk in early 2015. Last week, the two sides also agreed to halt hostilities through the New Year holidays. Since then, both sides have accused each other of violating the truce several times.
