Spain’s acting PM aims for vote of confidence – YouTube
An official from Rajoy’s Popular Party says he seeks parliamentary support after the new parliament held its first session following an inconclusive election on December 20. Rajoy’s party won 123 seats, but failed to gain the absolute majority. That led to uncertainty amid resistance from three other conflicting main parties, with Socialists being the leading opposition. Proposals to form a new government will need to be voted by Spanish lawmakers. Meanwhile, a Socialist is picked as parliament speaker to begin the consultation process with the monarch, who will invite the election winner to form a government. The nominated party leader must win a vote of confidence in parliament to take office.
