(VIDEO) Confessed ISIS Sympathizer Shoots Philly Police Officer; Mayor Says the Shooter Is Not ISIS

(Before It's News)

philly shooting

Early today, a Philadelphia police officer, Jesse Hartnett, was ambushed on a Philadelphia street. He was in his police cruiser when 30-year-old Edward Archer charged him and fired eleven (early reports said 13) shots, hitting Hartnett at three times in the arm. Hartnett was able to return fire, hitting his attacker three times. Both men are alive and in the hospital.  The whole incident was captured on surveillance video.

In custody, Archer made a startling confession:

The gunman, now in custody, “confessed to committing this cowardly act in the name of Islam,” Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross said during a news conference. “According to him, he believed that the police defend laws that are contrary to the teachings of the Quran.”

Philadelphia Police Captain James Clark said the suspect, identified as Edward Archer, “stated that he pledges his allegiance to Islamic State, he follows Allah and that is the reason he was called upon to do this.”

Case freakin closed.

Wait. Not so fast.

Jim Kenney, if you don’t know, is Philadelphia looney-left mayor. He didn’t stop with the tweet.

This was the first police-involved shooting for the administration of Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney, who was inaugurated four days ago.

Kenney said today of the shooting, “It’s terrible and it does not represent the religion [Islam] in any way shape or form or any of its teachings.”

“This is a criminal with a stolen gun who tried to kill one of our officers,” Kenney said. “Has nothing to do with being a Muslim or following the Islamic faith.”

Yes, the criminal had a stolen gun:

During a press conference, Commissioner Ross said the gun used in the attack was a stolen police firearm.

“It was stolen back in October of 2013. It was reported, and that is one of the things you regret the most when an officer’s gun is stolen, when it is used against one of your own.”

Then the mayor jumped on Obama administration talking points:

Jim Kenney, who is in his first week as mayor of the nation’s fifth largest city, said, “There are just too many guns on the streets and I think our national government needs to do something about that.”

What is Kenney proposing? To disarm his police? Because that is the only way this could have been prevented. And, more to the point, a “gun” didn’t shoot Officer Hartnett. An ISIS sympathizer used a gun to shoot him. The gun and its source is completely irrelevant.

More insane is the fact that we have a shooter confess to his motivation in ambushing a police officer and the freakin mayor of the city says, “Nuh-huh. Nope. No way. Didn’t happen.”

Maybe, to paraphrase the mayor, there are just too many ISIS sympathizers on the streets and the government should do something about it. And maybe there are too many imbeciles in City Hall and the voters should do something.
