Democrats Stunning Hypocrisy On Blocking Supreme Court Nominees

(Before It's News)

Antonin Scalia

The way Democrats are behaving with respect to the death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia and the move to have him replaced, you’d think we were on the verge of a constitutional crisis. It’s a cynical outlook on their part and another example of how Democrats will use anything to their advantage for political gain.

Many Democrats are behaving like complete hypocrites when wagging their fingers at Republicans who said they won’t allow Obama’s nominee to replace Scalia go through as whoever it is, will likely be the complete opposite of Justice Scalia.

Starting with Chuck Schumer, he said the following regarding Scalia’s replacement:

Here, he doesn’t even know who the president’s going to propose and he said, no, we’re not having hearings; we’re not going to go forward to lead the Supreme Court vacant at 300 days in a divided time.

This kind of obstructionism isn’t going to last. And you know, we Democrats didn’t do this. When in the — we nominated — we voted 97-0 for Justice Kennedy in the last year of Reagan’s term.

Naturally, Schumer leaves out how they destroyed Robert Bork and how Douglas Ginsburg had to withdraw after a BS story about him smoking weed when he was younger.

But here’s Schumer in 2007 talking about Bush and his Supreme Court nominees:

Amazing isn’t it?

Here is Russ Feingold this year talking about the importance of getting Obama’s nomination to the floor of the Senate:

But of course, Russ Feingold was perfectly ok with the option to filibuster in 2005 and the justice’s name was Samuel Alito:

Democratic Sen. Russ Feingold said Tuesday he won’t rule out a filibuster of Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito, although he said no one in his party is actively planning to use the tactic.

“Certainly nobody I know is,” said the Wisconsin senator, who is considered a possible Democratic presidential nominee in 2008. “But I’m not going to take it off the table. It’s my right as a senator and it’s an important right.”

Nice, huh?

What about President Obama and Hillary Clinton? Here is a clip from the Steve Kornacki that says it all:

Republicans have been vowing to block any nomination Obama puts forward, but only after just 2 days, at least one Republican is already cracking:

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) is trying to pre-empt criticism he and his party may face for refusing to move forward on President Barack Obama’s expected Supreme Court nominee, arguing Tuesday that “doing nothing is also an action” and indicating a willingness to possibly vote on a candidate.

You think conservatives were pissed off about tax increases and Obamacare? Try a liberal replacement for Scalia by Obama. The Republican party is slowly on the verge of imploding with a possible nomination of Donald Trump as the GOP candidate for President.

If Republicans don’t want to see an open revolt by conservatives in their party, they’ll be sure they – like Chuck Schumer said he would — will do everything in their power to see to it no moderate or liberal replaces Scalia.
