The short answer to the question posed in the title is very close, but let’s see if we can figure out what that means! Many American have learned by now that the mainstream U.S. media is only going to report a fraction of what is truly happening when it comes to the ongoing escalating tensions between the U.S. and Russia, and that’s if they report any truth at all. The mainstream media is not exactly known for it’s high level of journalistic integrity.

We know one thing for certain: We know that the tensions in Syria are a powder keg waiting to blow, and we know most of the world is praying it remains only a powder keg, and not a mushroom cloud, but just how serious is the situation? It’s safe to say all parties involved are working their hardest to avoid a major armed conflict, and obviously we’ll never be privy to those conversations, but if we take a look back at prior news that has come out over the last several months, it paints the picture of how truly dangerous the situation has become.

First, let’d discuss Russia’s warning this past week that the deployment of foreign ground troops in the Syrian conflict could result in a world war. AlJazeera reports:

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has warned that the deployment of foreign ground troops in the Syrian conflict could result in a world war. Medvedev was quoted as saying in an interview published late on Thursday by the German newspaper Handelsblatt that “a ground operation draws everyone taking part in it into a war”.

When asked about a recent proposal from Saudi Arabia to send ground troops into Syria, the Russian prime minister answered that “the Americans and our Arab partners must consider whether or not they want a permanent war”.

Al Jazeera’s Rory Challands, reporting from Moscow, said Medvedev’s comments were an explicit warning to the United States and its regional allies, including Saudi Arabia.

“He basically told them to back off on sending troops because if they did, this might result in some sort of interminable or even a world war,” Challands said.

Medvedev also criticized Western powers’ refusal to collaborate with Russia in Syria. The prime minister said ties at the level of defense departments were only sporadic.

US defense chief Ashton Carter, meanwhile, welcomed a commitment from Saudi Arabia to expand its role with ground troops in Syria against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group.

When asked about a recent proposal from Saudi Arabia to send in ground troops to Syria, the Russian prime minister answered that “the Americans and our Arab partners must consider whether or not they want a permanent war.” The first video below shows who’s who in the region, and where the different parties are respective to one another.

A great deal of the chaos we now see in the middle east is a direct result of failed Obama foreign policy, so in reality we could say that the current conflict began when Obama decided to completely pull out of Iraq, but since that’s an unreasonable timeframe to try to work within, let’s take things back to October of 2015.

Prior to October 2015, the United States was the only country in the world that had the ability to launch cruise missiles at land targets, in the middle of combat, and from naval surface ships. In October 2015 that all changed. The following video shows the new Russian 3M14 KALIBR Cruise Missile, which is displayed for the world to see, and announces that the playing field is a bit more level than previously thought between the Russians and the U.S. Navy.

That is hardly the only upgrade to the Russian arsenal. We have long known that Obama has been gutting our military since he assumed office, yet our propaganda machine keeps pumping out the notion that we are the mightiest military on earth. Well, I suppose that depends on how you define mighty.

The recent START 3 treaty between the U.S. and Russia was overwhelmingly favorable to Russia, and as you might expect, Russia did everything possible to take advantage of their position, while the U.S. did nothing to strengthen ours. Predictably, the U.S. committed ourselves to an agreement that limited our own ability to develop new nuclear weapons or to upgrade our existing nuclear stockpiles (not that Obama would have done it anyway), meanwhile the Russians have completely overhauled their entire nuclear arsenal.

In a post from 2014 titled, Does Russia Think Their New Nuclear Weapons Could Win A War, it says the following:

Russia has developed long-range cruise missiles of a new generation that will soon be deployed on submarines of the Black Sea Fleet and missile ships of the Caspian Flotilla.

The U.S. State Department admitted as much in a report published at the beginning of September, stating that Russia has passed us in nuclear weapons capability for the first time in 40 years.

Letting our nuclear arsenal fall into disrepair is one thing (Washington Post), but allowing Russia to build a new strategic nuclear weapons force more advanced than ours is another thing altogether. And they even have a new generation of missiles.

What’s equally as alarming as Russia’s modernized nuclear capability, is that a report surfaced that Russia Had Started Training Civilians To Deal With a Nuclear Attack. Back in the first week of November, Dmitry Rogozin, the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia’s defense industry, suggested that his government should start preparing civilians for a nuclear attack much like the Soviets did during the Cold War. Have you thought to ask yourself why?

Obama doesn’t want “Boots” on the ground anywhere, much less a nuclear exchange with anyone, so clearly the Russians aren’t worried about an attack originating from the United States, however there are no other nation states in the region, or in the world for that matter, with the ability or the desire to challenge the Russians with nuclear weapons. Quite the opposite of countries having aggression toward Russia, during this time of unprecedented American weakness, we’ve seen the formation of alliances between countries like Russia and Iran, who now have joint operations going on in Syria, with a Chinese Aircraft Carrier Located Off the Coast Providing them Cover.

Trident II

When viewed through the lens that the U.S. just witnessed the unveiling of Russia’s New Cruise Missile That Shifts the Strategic Military Balance, and news that Russia Had Started Training Civilians To Deal With a Nuclear Attack, when a Top Secret Military Operation Off the Coast of California Fired a Nuclear Capable Trident II Missile the second week in November, now it’s a bit more understandable why the launch took place the way it did, particularly with how it was fired in such a way that it could be seen in the night sky (above) as far West as Arizona.

In the video below from DAHBOO77, you can get an idea what people seeing the launch were thinking at the time. Referring to how secretive the operation began when it actually shut down LAX airport, and blocked off miles of ocean, DAHBOO77 asks, “Why be so secretive, and then fire off a missile that they know EVERYONE is going to witness? Why not just do it out in the middle of the ocean?”

ANSWER: THE U.S. MILITARY WANTED THE WORLD TO SEE IT!

Michael Snyder writes:

So what kind of message was the government trying to send?

Was this a message to the American people?

Some are suggesting this, but I tend to agree with Mike Adams of Natural News that this was likely a message to our enemies…

Last night’s test launch of the Trident missile over Orange County was staged near a high population area for a tactical reason: To have as many witnesses (and videos) as possible, sending a very visible warning message to China that says, “We can destroy you if you don’t back off.”

The Trident missile, built by Lockheed Martin, is a thermonuclear missile system (Fleet Ballistic Missile) with a range of at least 4,000 nautical miles. See the Trident missile page on the U.S. Navy website. Just one Trident missile launched from somewhere in the Pacific Ocean could devastate China with a nuclear strike on Beijing.

I also find that it is an incredibly strange “coincidence” that it was a “Trident” nuclear missile that was fired considering the fact that the largest NATO military exercise in 13 years named “Trident Juncture” is also coming to an end right now

The biggest military exercise NATO has held in 13 years, “Trident Juncture” will end tomorrow.

DW.com claims that, even though 36,000 soldiers from various NATO countries including the U.S. have participated in the exercise to defend against “Russia’s military ambitions,” (or what other outlets are simply referring to as “Russian aggression”), the organization is actually at a big disadvantage against Russia, not only because its trying to coordinate 28 member states with different priorities, but Russia’s training events in the last two years have involved up to 80,000 soldiers, more than twice that of NATO.

This all comes at a time when our relationships with both China and Russia are going downhill very rapidly.  For much, much more on this, please see the following two articles which I published within the last month…

‘Mentally Unstable’ Obama Looking To Start A War With China?

Is Barack Obama Actually TRYING To Start World War III?

Most Americans don’t realize this, but there is a very real possibility that we could eventually go to war with China.  In fact, Mike Adams of Natural News believes that we are already “in an undeclared state of war” with China…

Right now, the United States and China are in an undeclared state of war. China stands ready to strike the USA with nuclear warheads or high altitude EMP weapons that would destroy the U.S. power grid and cause 90% casualties across the unprepared population. Legendary American journalist Ted Koppel has even written a book about this entitled Lights Out: A Cyberattack, A Nation Unprepared, Surviving the Aftermath.

Let us certainly hope that World War III does not start any time soon, but without a doubt our “leaders” are becoming increasingly reckless, and at some point there may be an “accident”.

Monster

Just a short time after the U.S. put on it’s show of force for the world to see is when Turkey shot down one of Russia’s Su-24 aircraft with an F-16. Immediately afterward, Russia claimed it needed a missile cruiser off the coast of Syria AND an unknown number of ultramodern S-400 (or SA-21 Growler in NATO designation) SAM batteries in Latakia to make sure that a tragic incident like the shooting down of a Su-24 aircraft never repeated itself. Because of how advanced the missiles are, at the time, they seemed like overkill, which I explain in the post titled, Russians Move Military Weapon Called “The Monster” Into Place; US Worried.

The following is a demo of the S-400, which are far more advanced than American Missile defense systems as you’ll see.

Russian Monster Demo

The S-400’s are so advanced, they can follow up to 300 targets simultaneously ranging from anywhere between just a few feet off the ground, all the way to 40 miles above the earth’s surface. That’s roughly 5x the reach as it’s western counterpart, the Patriot Missile. The S-400 can also acquire targets up to 600km away and take them out at 400km away. Finally, for efficiency, the super high tech missile defense platform only requires three people to operate, and as you can see in the videos provided, the system is highly portable.

Russians 2

In what has been an ongoing show of force, both the U.S. and Russia have continued to move additional aircraft into the region, but what should be noted is the number of aircraft that are not used for bombing that are being moved into the region.  Many of the aircraft arriving in the region serve no other purpose than to shoot down other aircraft. Here’s the thing about that, we’re the only two nations in the region with aircraft there, which signals alarm that tensions are definitely increasing, rather than decreasing.

Do you see where all this is going? Russia Decides it’s Time to Start Training Civilians To Deal With a Nuclear Attack, even when they have no reason to be fearful, especially considering the Russians are aligned with the only other nation known to have “Carrier Killer” missiles intended to do what their name implies: Sink Aircraft Carriers, which also happen to be the strength of the American Military.

So, now that the Proxy War Between America and Russia is REALLY heating up, and it’s easy to see where tempers might be starting to flare behind the scenes. Is it possible the Russians might begin training their people for nuclear attack because they intend to strike first? Absolutely!

The Threat of Nuclear War Is Now HIGHER Than During the Soviet Era

Turkey previously shot down a Russian jet.

Now, Turkey and Saudi Arabia are threatening to invade Syria.

How dangerous could this get, in a worst case scenario?

Robert Parry – the investigative reporter who broke the Iran-Contra story for the Associated Press and Newsweek  –  wrote yesterday:

A source close to Russian President Vladimir Putin told me that the Russians have warned Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that Moscow is prepared to use tactical nuclear weapons if necessary to save their troops in the face of a Turkish-Saudi onslaught. Since Turkey is a member of NATO, any such conflict could quickly escalate into a full-scale nuclear confrontation.

Washington’s Blog asked one of America’s top experts on Russia – Stephen Cohen, professor emeritus of Russian studies and politics at New York University and Princeton University, and the author of a number of books on Russia and the Soviet Union – what he thought of Parry’s claim.

Cohen said:

Parry is a serious man [“serious” is the highest compliment that an insider can give to someone]. I cannot say it will lead to nuke war, but it is very dangerous, as is quadrupling US/NATO forces near Russia’s borders.

Pavel Felgenhauer – a leading Russian military analyst – also believes that a nuclear war is “very likely” to arise from Russia’s skirmishes with Turkey in Syria.

Last December, U.S. Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard – a Member of the House Armed Services Committee, Iraq war veteran, and Major in the Hawaii Army National Guard – warned that U.S. policy in Syria could lead to a nuclear war. And see this.

Also in December, retired Lieutenant General Robert Gard, chairman emeritus of the Center for Arms Control and Nonproliferation, retired Brigadier General John H. Johns, professor emeritus from US National Defense University, and Leslie Gelb, president of the Council on Foreign Relations,  penned an article in Foreign Policy calling for US-Russia cooperation to de-escalate current tensions and diffuse the increasing worrisome nuclear blustering.

American security expert Bruce Blair – a former nuclear-missile launch officer – notes that Turkey’s downing of the Russian warplane at the Syrian-Turkish border “fits a pattern of brinkmanship and inadvertence that is raising tensions and distrust between Russia and US-led NATO,” and that “this escalation could morph by design or inadvertence into a nuclear threat.”

Blair writes that the threat of nuclear war is higher now that during the Soviet era:

Russia has shortened the launch time from what it was during the Cold War. Today, top military command posts in the Moscow area can bypass the entire human chain of command and directly fire by remote control rockets in silos and on trucks as far away as Siberia in only 20 seconds.

Why should this concern us? History shows that crisis interactions, once triggered, take on a life of their own. Military encounters multiply; they become more decentralized, spontaneous and intense. Safeguards are loosened and unfamiliar operational environments cause accidents and unauthorized actions. Miscalculations, misinterpretations and loss of control create a fog of crisis out of which a fog of war may emerge. In short, the slope between the low-level military encounters, the outbreak of crisis and escalation to a nuclear dimension is a steep and slippery one.

(Indeed, the U.S. and Soviets came within seconds of all-out nuclear war on numerous occasions. And only the courage of U.S. and Soviet individuals to say no when their superiors told them to fire nuclear weapons – in the face of mistaken readings – saved the planet from nuclear war.)

Russia expert Stephen Cohen agrees that the risks of nuclear war are much higher than people know, telling the Commonwealth Club last year that the threat of nuclear war with Russia is now greater than it was with the Soviets.

Postscript:  Top Russian, American and Polish experts also warn that continued fighting in Ukraine could lead to nuclear war.

  • This it’s just another anti Russian piece of PROPAGANDA pay by the Military Industrial Complex…Remember this…While NATO promised not to expand after the collapse of the Warsaw Pact, that is precisely what it has done. The NATO summit, in its ‘wisdom,’ on April 3, said Ukraine and Georgia will become members of NATO. Also, the US and NATO deployed 36,000 soldiers from various NATO countries including the U.S. in the Russian borders, thumbing their nose at Russian concerns. Who are the aggressor or the ones with MILITARY AMBITIONS?.

  • and all thanks to america who have no thoughts for civilization at all…they will just walk away in the end with a little bruising and a few scratches. or so they think
