Turkish Tank bombing Kurdish Civilian Houses

PKK fighters must surrender or be ‘neutralized’ – Erdogan

https://www.rt.com/news/338398-erdogan-kurds-surrender-neutralize/

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan says members of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) must either surrender or be “neutralized,” stressing that the time for peace talks is over.

In a speech broadcast live by state TV channel TRT, Erdogan said that counter-terror operations against PKK fighters will continue until the last militant is neutralized, expressing confidence that the mission would be accomplished.

The president went on to state that Ankara had tried to disarm PKK fighters, but those efforts had not been successful.

Erdogan’s Monday comments come as Turkey continues its crackdown on Kurdish populated areas in the country’s southeast. The operation began in mid-2015, after Ankara ended a two-year ceasefire agreement and revived a conflict that has claimed more than 40,000 lives since 1984.

European leaders have expressed concern over Turkey’s operation, citing civilian deaths. In response, Erdogan accused Europe of “dancing in a minefield” when voicing its support for Kurds, stressing that the EU could see Kurdish terror attacks on its soil.

Human rights organizations have also slammed Turkey’s operation. Last month, Andrew Gardner, a Turkey expert with Amnesty International, told RT that curfews set by Ankara in Kurdish areas represent “unacceptable limitation of rights of the people,” as they limit the ability to access food and necessary services each day.

RT has also launched a petition urging the UN to investigate claims of alleged mass killing of Kurdish civilians. Reports from the battlefield include stories of civilians being slaughtered and burned alive.

Kurdish militants are fighting for the right to self-determination and greater autonomy for Kurds – demands which Ankara rejects. Since July, almost 400 soldiers and police and several thousand militants have been killed in the conflict, according to government figures. Opposition parties say between 500 and 1,000 civilians have also been killed in the fighting.

ISIL on Verge of Collapse in Heet

Iraqi security forces have taken control of more districts in the city of Heet in Iraq’s Western province of Anbar from ISIL militants, a provincial security source said Tuesday.

“The Iraqi security forces on Tuesday continued to impose their control over more districts across the city of Heet and managed to liberate the city’s main government compound, Al-Sa’a roundabout, Al-M’lamin neighbourhood and Courthouse of the city,” the source said.

The security troops and allied tribal units seized the compound after ISIL terrorists withdrew from the central part of the town, that is located some 160 km West of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, the source said.

“The troops raised the Iraqi flag on the main government building in the compound, which also includes buildings of the city police headquarters, court and education directorate,” the source said.

“However, sporadic clashes continued during the day to clean up the remaining pockets of ISIL terrorists in the Northern and Western parts of the town,” the source added.

Meanwhile, teams of explosive experts were defusing dozens of roadside bombs and booby-trapped vehicles and buildings set earlier by ISIL militants aimed at slowing the advance of the troops, the source said.

During the past few days, more than 1,000 families left their homes in Heet and were evacuated to refugee camps in safe areas.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Iraqi counter-terrorism department announced that the country’s joint forces have won back three new regions in the city of Heet in Anbar province in Western Iraq, inflicting heavy losses on the ISIL terrorists.

The Iraqi forces seized back Basa’er Awal, Eastern Basa’er and Western Basa’er regions in the Central part of Heet city on Tuesday.

At least 70 ISIL militants were killed and many others were wounded in heavy clashes with the Iraqi joint forces.

The Syrian military media center released a video on Tuesday said to show an ongoing battle between the Syrian army and Islamic State militants at a major military air base near the eastern Syrian city of Deir El-Zour. (April 5)

Islamic state militants use mustard gas in attack on Deir Zor airport: Syrian state TV

https://www.yahoo.com/news/islamic-state-militants-mustard-gas-attack-deir-zor-230245899.html

Islamic State militants attacked Syrian army troops with mustard gas in an offensive against a Syrian military airport in the eastern province of Deir al-Zor that borders Iraq, state media said on late Monday.

Syrian state media did not disclose how many casualties were sustained in the latest drive by the hardline fundamentalist Sunni militants to capture the heavily defended airport located south of Deir al Zor city, whose main neighborhoods are under the militants control.

“The terrorists fired rockets carrying mustard gas,” a statement said on state owned Ikhbariyah television station.

Deir al-Zor is a strategic location. The province links Islamic State’s de facto capital in Raqqa with its fighters in Iraq.

Reuters could not independently verify the media reports.

Amaq news agency, which is close to the militants, had earlier said Islamic State fighters had launched a wide scale attack on Jufrah village near the airport in which it said two of its suicide bombers rammed their vehicles into army defenses causing “tens of dead”.

“The battles continue on more than front and posts and we pray to Allah (God) victory for his Mujahdeen (holy warriors),” an official statement by the militants said.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a monitor which tracks violence across the country, said the militants had advanced with heavy aerial strikes aimed at repelling their offensive.

The Syrian army backed by heavy Russian air strikes was able last January to drive back the hardline militants from several villages near the airport but has so far failed to dislodge them.

Separately, the Observatory said fighting flared on several frontlines in the major northern city of Aleppo which is divided between government and rebel held sectors.

Rebel shelling of Kurdish YPG outposts in Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood caused several casualties, the monitor said.

The Syrian army had earlier said that at least four hundred al Qaeda affiliated Nusra Front led militants fully equipped with heavy arms staged a major attack on army outposts in the Aleppo countryside.

The army statement also said at least eight civilians were killed in mortar attacks by rebels on residential areas of Sheikh Maqsoud with scores injured.

A fragile “cessation of hostilities” truce has held in Syria for over a month as the various parties to the conflict try to negotiate an end to Syria’s civil war.

But the truce excludes Islamic State and the al Qaeda-affiliated Nusra Front. Air and land attacks by Syrian and allied forces continue in parts of Syria where the government says the groups are present.

Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Destroys Militants’ Defense Lines in Lattakia Province

The Syrian army and popular forces destroyed the defense lines of the Takfiri terrorists in Lattakia province.

The army units backed by the popular forces inflicted heavy losses on the militants in Lattakia province, killing scores of militants and injuring many more in heavy clashes.

The Syrian army and popular forces also hit hard the military positions of the Takfiri terrorists in other key provinces across Syria.

Lattakia

The terrorist groups suffered a heavy death toll after the Syrian Army troops thwarted their attempts to prevail over the government forces’ positions near Kinsibba at the border of Lattakia and Idlib provinces in Northwestern Syria.

The terrorists of Jeish al-Fatah, deployed in the Northeastern part of Lattakia near border with Idlib province, violated the ceasefire and stormed the Syrian government forces’ strongholds near Kinsibba, but their attacks were fended off by the army.

The heavy missile and artillery shelling the terrorists by the Syrian army forced Jeish al-Fatah to pull its militants back from Ruweisat al-Malek and Nahshaba hill and the army retook full control over them in a rapid counter attack.

Jeish al-Fatah suffered a heavy death after its members were caught in the Syrian army’s traps.

At least four terrorist were captured by the government forces too.

Aleppo

ISIL’s large bomb-making facilities alongside a huge depot of the terrorist group’s ammunition and weapons was targeted and destroyed in a joint operation carried out by the Syrian Army and the National Defense Forces (NDF) in Southern side of Aleppo city.

The Syrian army and the NDF surrounded the ISIL strongholds around several large-scale warehouses and opened heavy fire at the terrorist group’s positions which ended in large explosions inside warehouses.

The explosions were very heavy and forced the ISIL to pull its forces back from the fighting area that pave the way for the government forces to capture the terrorists’ strongholds and the warehouses.

The government forces later found out that there was a large workshop for making bombs and missiles inside the warehouses.

The ISIL suffered a heavy death toll in the attacks.

Homs

The Syrian Army’s aircraft and artillery units targeted concentration centers of the ISIL and al-Nusra Front across Homs province, inflicting a heavy death toll on the terrorists.

The Syrian fighter jets carried out several combat sorties over the ISIL gathering centers in al-Sukhneh, farms in the Eastern and Northern parts of the recently-liberated city of Palmyra (Tadmur), Khanifis and al-Swaniyeh al-Sharghi and Quaryatayn’s countryside, and targeted them heavily which claimed the lives of tens of terrorists and destroyed their military hardware in large scale.

In the meantime, the Syrian artillery units opened fire at centers of the al-Nusra Front in the Northern part of Homs province near Talbiseh, al-Hilaliyeh and Tir Ma’ala, which ended in the killing of scores of the terrorists, specially in al-Hilaliyeh where the entire members of the terrorist group were killed.

Dara’a

Informed sources said that the terrorists of Ahrar al-Sham, al-Nusra Front and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) have launched a huge offensive against the ISIL positions Southwest of Dara’a province.

“The joint front of al-Nusra, Ahrar al-Sham and FSA were able to capture the villages of Sheikh Saad, Jaleen, al-Tairah, Nah and Al-A’jami from the ISIL,” sources said.

Raqqa

The ISIL terrorist group executed 15 of its own members in the Northeastern city of Raqqa on charges of assassinating one of the group’s senior commanders, the Syrian Human Rights Watch said in formal statement.

“The ISIL arrested at least 35 of its own members on Saturday on charge of leaking information about the secret hideout of Abu al-Hija’ al-Tounisi, who was killed in an air raid on Wednesday,” the statement said.

“The ISIL security forces in Raqqa found 15 of the arrested members guilty and sentenced them to death penalty,” the statement added.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army thwarted several attempts by the terrorists to break its line of defense in the Eastern province of Deir Ezzur, imposing heavy casualties on them, military sources said Monday.

“The ISIL offensives on the government forces’ strongholds from the Eastern side of Deir Ezzur airbase were repulsed by the Syrian army men,” the sources said, adding, “The ISIL’s military vehicles and equipment sustained major damage in the failed attacks near the villages of al-Jafreh and al-Mura’yeh.”

“The Syrian air fleet, meantime, targeted the ISIL concentration centers in the villages of Haweija Saker, al-Jafreh and al-Mura’yeh in the Eastern part of the airbase, and inflicted a heavy death toll on the militants,” the sources further added.

Idlib

The Al-Nusra Front terrorist group’s spokesman and 19 other militants were killed and several more were wounded in the joint airstrike of the Russian and Syrian fighter jets in the Northwestern province of Idlib.

Abu Foras al-Souri, his son and several senior commanders of al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra Front had participated in a secret meeting in the village of Kafr Jales.

The Syrian and Russian Air Forces, tipped off by the intelligence agents, traced and targeted the venue of the meeting, which ended in the killing of al-Souri, his son and 19 senior commanders of the terrorist group.

There were several non-Syrian commanders among the killed terrorists in the attack.

Al-Souri was one of founding members of al-Nusra Front and one of senior members of the Front’s Consultative Assembly.

Al-Souri had participated in Afghanistan war in 1980s as one of members of al-Qaeda.

He had close relation with Osama bin Laden.

Sweida

Tens of ISIL terrorists were killed or wounded and their military equipment was destroyed in the Syrian Army offensives Northeast of Sweida province.

The Syrian Army stormed the ISIL positions near Tal al-Sheiheb al-Janoubi, which ended in the killing or wounding of dozens of the terrorists, while the militants’ military vehicles and equipment sustained major damage too.

Also on Friday, the Syrian army and popular forces continued their advances in the Northeastern parts of Sweida province, and destroyed ISIL’s gathering centers there.

The ISIL’s military positions were razed down by Syrian army and popular forces near Tal al-Sheiheb al-Janoubi.

Scores of ISIL terrorists were killed and wounded in the Syrian army’s attacks on their positions.

The Takfiri terrorists’ military hardware also sustained heavy losses in the army’s attacks.

Syria – As Rebels Break Ceasefire Army Gathers For New Campaign

http://www.moonofalabama.org/2016/04/syria-as-rebels-break-ceasefire-army-gathers-for-new-campaign.html

The ceasefire in Syria held for some five weeks but is now about to end. During the ceasefire Russia reduced its forces in Syria and the Syrian Arab Army made significant progress against the Islamic State. But the opposition and their sponsors abused the ceasefire to rearm. They prepared and executed new attacks against the Syrian government and Syrian civilians.

The sponsors of the opposition, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the U.S. delivered new arm and munitions to the “moderate” opposition. It is known that up to half of all supplies the “moderates” receive is inevitably delivered to al-Qaeda in Syria. The sponsors also broke a long-standing taboo and introduced anti-air missile MANPADs onto the battle field. Several fighters of the U.S. and Turkey supported Al Hamza brigade posted pictures showing off their new toys. The U.S. claims that these fighters are supposed to only fight the Islamic State. But the Islamic State has no aircraft and these weapons are clearly to be used against the Syrian government and its supporters.

…………..It is obvious now that the “moderate” rebels have broken the cease fire and are openly in full cooperation with al-Qaeda.

Unless the opposition sponsors manage to immediately reign in their proxies all out war in Syria will soon be back. The Syrian government and its allies are now mobilizing more forces to regain the lost areas in the south Aleppo country side. For the first time ‘advisors’ of the regular Iranian army (not the Revolutionary Guard) will take part in the fighting. The Russian air force is likely to reintroduce the parts of its Syria contingent that had been withdrawn.
