Syrian government, Kurds hold talks on ending Qamishli unrest – YouTube
The army and the Kurds have in the past had security coordination against Daesh terrorists in Qamishli which is close to the border with Turkey. Last week, the city witnessed deadly fighting between the two sides leaving dozens of people dead. On Friday, government and Kurdish officials agreed to observe a truce until a lasting settlement to the dispute is reached. Hasakeh province is largely controlled by a Kurdish group known as People’s Protection Units. However, its decision to declare the mainly Kurdish northern area as an autonomous region has angered Damascus.
