Supporting Palestine symbolizes defending Islam: Ayatollah Khamenei

Islam Itself: Syria and Palestine

It doesn’t take a strategic mind to realize that the Syria War and the Palestinian cause go hand-in-hand. Lose Syria and you lose Palestine for eternity.

That explains why Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei says defending the Palestinian cause in the face of the Israeli regime symbolizes defending Islam.

In a meeting on Sunday, May 1, with Ramadan Abdullah, the head of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, and his accompanying delegation, Ayatollah Khamenei said, “Since the very beginning, Iran considered supporting Palestine as a duty and it will continue to fulfill its obligation in the future as well. Indeed, defending the Palestinian cause is enshrined in the very nature of the Islamic Republic.”

Under the circumstances, the most important thing that could be done for the Palestinian cause is to not lose the Syrian War. If Syria is lost, Lebanon is lost, Palestine is lost, Iraq is lost. Everything is lost. On balance, Islam itself:

1- Israel and its Western-Arab allies have initiated a war against the Islamic Resistance Front in a bid to dominate the entire region and preserve the status quo. Within this framework, the issues of Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, and Hezbollah are part of a large-scale confrontation.

2- Irrespective of the nuclear deal that ended up in the removal of nuclear-related or secondary sanctions against Iran, the Western Front, led by the United States, has kept the primary sanctions in place. The ultimate goal is to dissuade Iran from its rightful path. However, the Islamic Republic has shown, and will continue to show, great leadership and nobility in supporting the legitimate Palestinian cause. Under International Law, it is the right thing to do – even though at the behest of Washington, Arab countries are not on the same page for the common enemy.

3- Just like the Palestinian cause, Iran continues to support Syria in its ongoing struggle against foreign-backed terrorism. There is little doubt that the murderous herds don’t want Islam in principle, and are protecting and serving the American-Zionist-Saudi interests.

4- Syria is on the frontline of Islamic resistance against Israel. The ongoing war on Syria is in fact a war against Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah – the real meat on the bone. That says why they are both helping Damascus in the war on terrorism, a fateful battle that has important implications for the region and increasingly for global security – historical, religious, geographic, and geopolitical.

5- During the Iraqi-imposed and Western-Arab-backed war on Iran in the 1980s, Damascus supported Tehran. Tehran is doing the same thing now. In fact, all people should do, not just Muslims, but all good people should defend Syria and Palestine against the American-Zionist-Saudi campaign and its complex web of alliances, which has nothing to do with democracy and Judaism, and everything to do with racism and genocide, indeed self-centered crimes of the worst kind imaginable.

Taken together, the fate of Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq remain deeply intertwined. They are at war against the United States and Israel, as well as an amalgam of Wahhabi jihadists backed by Saudi Arabia and its murdering associates.

Their core interest in the region at the moment is to tie down their rivals and Iran. Meaning, the war of attrition will go on, even though they are not capable of overwhelming the Islamic Resistance Front on the battlefield and have regional backers that fuel the war with all those American weaponry and intelligence provisions.

Regardless, as maintained by Ayatollah Khamenei, the deeply unnerved regime changers “failed to realize their objectives”. As a result, Syria will neither fragment nor formalize into sectarian statelets, even though the regime changers and the Zionist occupiers still have some fight in them to manipulate appeals for ceasefire and peace process, and keep going, however tenuously.
