Israel Delivers Demolition Notices for EU-Funded Water Tanks in Hebron
HEBRON (Ma’an) — Israeli authorities delivered four demolition notices on Wednesday ordering several Palestinians to remove water tanks being used for irrigation in the northern and eastern areas of the town of Beit Ummar in the southern occupied West Bank district of Hebron, locals said. The water tanks are used to irrigate lands in the areas of Beir Zaata, al-Furdeis and Thaghret al-Shabak, with an overall area of more than 30 dunams (7.4 acres) dependent on the tanks for irrigation, according to Muhammad Awad, a spokesperson for a local popular committee. The tanks were set up earlier in 2016 under a UN-funded water development program, Awad said.
After Israeli authorities deliver a demolition order, the owners of the properties have seven days to remove the structures. If not, Israeli forces demolish the structures at the financial expense of the owners of the property. Awad told Ma’an that the tanks belonged to Wahdi Hamdi Zamel Abu Maria, Jamil Muhammad Amer Abu Maria, Ghassan Muhammad Abed al-Aziz Brighith, and Khalid Youssef Abed al-Majd Brighith. It remains unclear what legal pretext Israeli authorities used to issue the demolition orders. Israel has come under international condemnation over repeated demolitions of EU-funded structures, with some accusing the Israeli government of demolishing Palestinian structures in retaliation for the EU’s decision in November to enforce labeling laws that would indicate if a product was produced in one of Israel’s 196 illegal settlements. Since the start of 2016, Israeli forces have demolished 586 Palestinian-owned structures, leaving 800 Palestinians homeless in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, according to OCHA. According to the Israeli Committee Against Housing Demolitions, Israeli forces have demolished over 48,000 Palestinian homes and structures since the start of the occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem in 1967.
Israeli Politicians WARN Netanyahu and Lieberman “the fascists are coming,” !
Uri Avnery – Traces of Nazism in Israel Confirmed?
http://www.veteranstoday.com/2016/05/22/uri-avnery-traces-of-nazism-in-israel-confirmed/
……………I was the only Jew in the entire gymnasium (high school.) When the hundreds of boys – all taller than I – raised their arms to sing the Nazi anthem, and I did not, they threatened to break my bones if it happened again. A few days later we left Germany for good. General Golan was accused of comparing Israel to Nazi Germany. Nothing of the sort. A careful reading of his text shows that he compared developments in Israel to the events that led to the disintegration of the Weimar Republic. And that is a valid comparison. Things happening in Israel, especially since the last election, bear a frightening similarity to those events. True, the process is quite different. German fascism arose from the humiliation of surrender in World War I, the occupation of the Ruhr by France and Belgium from 1923-25, the terrible economic crisis of 1929, the misery of millions of unemployed. Israel is victorious in its frequent military actions, we live comfortable lives. The dangers threatening us are of a quite different nature. They stem from our victories, not from our defeats. Indeed, the differences between Israel today and Germany then are far greater than the similarities. But those similarities do exist, and the general was right to point them out. The discrimination against the Palestinians in practically all spheres of life can be compared to the treatment of the Jews in the first phase of Nazi Germany. (The oppression of the Palestinians in the occupied territories resembles more the treatment of the Czechs in the “protectorate” after the Munich betrayal.) The rain of racist bills in the Knesset, those already adopted and those in the works, strongly resembles the laws adopted by the Reichstag in the early days of the Nazi regime. Some rabbis call for a boycott of Arab shops. Like then. The call “Death to the Arabs” (“Judah verrecke”?) is regularly heard at soccer matches. A member of parliament has called for the separation between Jewish and Arab newborns in hospital.
……………One of the main slogans of our present government is to replace the “old elite”, considered too liberal, with a new one. One of the main Nazi slogans was to replace “das System”. By the way, when the Nazis came to power, almost all high-ranking officers of the German army were staunch anti-Nazis. They were even considering a putsch against Hitler . Their political leader was summarily executed a year later, when Hitler liquidated his opponents in his own party. We are told that General Golan is now protected by a personal bodyguard, something that has never happened to a general in the annals of Israel.
The general did not mention the occupation and the settlements, which are under army rule. But he did mention the episode which occurred shortly before he gave this speech, and which is still shaking Israel now: in occupied Hebron, under army rule, a soldier saw a seriously wounded Palestinian lying helplessly on the ground, approached him and killed him with a shot to the head. The victim had tried to attack some soldiers with a knife, but did not constitute a threat to anyone any more. This was a clear contravention of army standing orders, and the soldier has been hauled before a court martial.
A cry went up around the country: the soldier is a hero! He should be decorated! Netanyahu called his father to assure him of his support. Avigdor Lieberman entered the crowded courtroom in order to express his solidarity with the soldier. A few days later Netanyahu appointed Lieberman as Minister of Defense, the second most important office in Israel. Before that, General Golan received robust support both from the Minister of Defense, Moshe Ya’alon, and the Chief of Staff, Gadi Eisenkot. Probably this was the immediate reason for the kicking out of Ya’alon and the appointment of Lieberman in his place. It resembled a putsch.
It seems that Golan is not only a courageous officer, but a prophet, too. The inclusion of Lieberman’s party in the government coalition confirms Golan’s blackest fears. This is another fatal blow to the Israeli democracy. Am I condemned to witness the same process for the second time in my life?

Israel mulls legalizing execution of Palestinians: Report
http://www.presstv.com/Detail/2016/05/21/466641/Israel-Netanyahu-Lieberman-Yaalon
Israel reportedly mulls legalizing execution of the Palestinians that the regime in Tel Aviv finds guilty of attacking Israelis.
According to a report by Israel’s Channel 10, Israeli Prime Benjamin Netanyahu and Avigdor Lieberman, the newly-appointed minister of military affairs, have reached an agreement on the measure.
According to the measure, the opinion of as few as two judges sitting on a panel — and not the majority of them — would suffice to convict a Palestinian of such an attack.
Israel’s Knesset (Parliament) and Netanyahu’s Likud Party had last year put up opposition to such a law.
Lieberman’s appointment came after Netanyahu summoned his predecessor Moshe Ya’alon and reproached him over supporting an analogy between Israel’s situation and Nazi Germany.
Ya’alon then officially resigned both from the cabinet and the Knesset (parliament), citing “lack of trust” in the premier. He also said Israel and the ruling Likud Party was taken over by “dangerous and radical officials.”
Upon being offered by Netanyahu to succeed Ya’alon in the position, Lieberman, who leads the far-right Yisrael Beiteinu party, said Tel Aviv would have to ratify the law if he is to take the job.
The former minister had on several occasions come under fire by rightists for speaking against an Israeli soldier who was caught on camera shooting dead an already wounded Palestinian man on March 24.
He had also criticized the demonstrations held by extremists in Israel in support of the Israeli soldier.
Ya’alon and Netanyahu also held opposition views on the regime’s freeze in the process of returning the bodies of Palestinians killed by Israeli soldiers amid tensions in the occupied West Bank.
In late March, the premier ordered Ya’alon to stop handing over the bodies to their families. Ya’alon’s ministry had resumed returning the corpses to their families on the condition that they were buried overnight and in a low-key funeral.
On Friday, Ehud Barak, a former Israeli minister of military affairs, reacted to Ya’alon’s resignation and warned against Lieberman’s appointment.
The government is “showing signs of fascism,” he said, adding, “The dismissal of Ya’alon should be a red light to all of us about what is happening in the government.”
“This government is destined to fall,” warned Barak, who added, “In the first months, Lieberman will try to appear moderate, but sooner or later, we will pay the price. Let us pray that it will not be too heavy.”
Tensions have heightened in the occupied Palestinian territories due to Israel’s imposition in August 2015 of restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds.
At least 213 Palestinians, including women and children, have lost their lives at the hands of Israeli forces since October 2015. Around 30 Israeli have been killed during the time span.
