Trump May Appoint Mayor Rudy Guiliani to Commission on Immigration
We know former New York Mayor Rudy Guiliani voted for Donald Trump in the New York primary, without making a full-throated endorsement. Now it appears Trump is considering returning the favor.
In a story today from POLITICO, the presumptive nominee spoke about his plans for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the U.S. and the problems with immigration, in general.
Nobody is saying there isn’t a problem with immigration in this nation. Trump hasn’t uncovered anything new, as his supporters so wrongly believe. The problem is with those who feel Trump could somehow figure out a solution on his own.
Giuliani was the mayor of New York when Muslim terrorists flew two airplanes into the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001. He was widely applauded for his actions during the crisis, so many feel Guiliani was uniquely positioned to address the threat of radical Islam.
Maybe.
Trump gave his thoughts:
“’We have to be extremely careful,’ he said. ‘In fact, I’m thinking about setting up a commission perhaps headed by Rudy Giuliani to take a very serious look at this problem. But this is a worldwide problem. And we have to be smart.’”
There has been no word from Giuliani on whether he would accept such a position.
