The Iraqi forces continued their advances to the North of Fallujah after purging terrorists from most of the regions in the city and destroying over 340 of their bomb-laden vehicles used for suicide attacks. “The Iraqi forces are working hard to take control of the surrounding areas of Fallujah city as they have destroyed a sum of 346 of their suicide vehicles,” a battlefield source told FNA on Sunday. The battlefield source said that several ISIL suicide attackers tried to slow down the mop-up operations in the Northern part of Fallujah city, but the Iraqi forces’ vigilance prevented them from achieving their objective.

Earlier on Sunday, Iraqi Army’s Baghdad Operations Command announced the liberation of 40 more areas in Fallujah from the ISIL control, while the command reported deaths of over 500 ISIL members as the operation to restore security in the Western city continues. “The joint security forces, during the liberation operations of Fallujah, managed to liberate 40 more areas from the ISIL control,” the spokesman for Baghdad Operations Command, Brigadier General Saad Moen, said in a press statement. The spokesperson pointed out that the security forces killed “over 500 ISIL members during the battles, in addition to dismantling tens of explosive devices and booby-trapped vehicles”.

“Fallujah is now under the control of the security forces except few areas that will be liberated completely in the coming days,” General Saad Moen concluded.

The Syrian military troops, in a fresh round of mop up operation on the Southern side of al-Tabaqa airbase, discovered a large depot of ISIL arms and ammunition left behind by the Takfiri terrorists under the heavy attacks of the Syrian government forces in the recent days. The Syrian soldiers found the ISIL depot of weapons and military equipment in Safiyeh oilfield. Large number of mortar shells and large volume of other kinds of ammunition were in the discovered depot. Reports said earlier today that the Syrian warplanes, in fresh series of heavy bombardments, targeted the ISIL defense lines and bases in different parts of Raqqa province, killing a number of militants and pinning the rest of them down behind their positions. The Syrian Army aircraft bombed the ISIL gatherings and concentration centers in al-Mansoureh, the town of al-Tabaqa and al-Tabaqa airbase, which not only left at least 30 terrorists dead but destroyed their strongholds

Syria Regime Change: They Will Take Their Wish to the Grave

http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13950330001457

Once upon a time for regime changers, war crimes and crimes against humanity were those that their terror proxy forces used to commit in Syria.

Now that the narrow minded zealots, “moderate” head choppers, Wahhabi extremists, and fanatical jihadists are at their last gasp, the regime changers say they should take matters into their own hands and commit their own crimes in a direct military confrontation with Damascus.

To this end, an internal cable signed by more than 50 State Department officials says Washington should abandon its war against ISIL in Syria in favor of a separate war against the Assad government. Not surprisingly, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir has been quick to back the State Department’s mind-boggling idea. He insists that’s the war the Saudis wanted all along, criticising President Obama for continuing on with the ISIL war, which the White House insists will not change.

This may be an attempt to throw Obama under the bus and shape the foreign policy outlook of the next US administration, with a more aggressive stance toward the Syrian government. Whatever it is, the slope is very slippery and the implications are potentially very dangerous, as it ends in a military confrontation with Russia, and more when considered in the context of the following:

1- The colonial plan to regime change Syria has failed. Using its client states and proxies as a front, the US did everything it could to oust President Assad, short of an actual land invasion. It was supposed to create another Libya that could be used as a safe haven for terrorists, arms smugglers and human traffickers – yet another ripe target for endless US War on Terror. According to presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s e-mails, a destroyed Syria was also in the “interests” of Israel. But things didn’t go quite according to the “Joe Biden Plan”.

2- With hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees in Europe, the international civil society, particularly the European Union, will not look the other way this time. They will face up to the dangers created by yet another direct military intervention in the Middle East, which is certain to have unforeseen and tragic long-term security and humanitarian consequences for Fortress Europe. Likewise, it will continue to present increasingly dire humanitarian, diplomatic and terrorism-related challenges to the international community.

3- By backing the State Department and its laughable idea, it is obvious that Riyadh is desperate and frustrated. The Saudis can’t afford to admit they have failed to isolate the Syrian government and establish a Wahhabi-Salafist principality in Eastern Syria – despite misleading the world community on a matter of war.

4- By inviting their “moderate” pawns with long-standing ties to Al-Qaeda and ISIL to the peace talks, and by seeking direct military confrontation with Damascus, it is obvious that the United States, Saudi Arabia and the mere extras are not hoping for a peaceful Syria. Strikingly, it also shows how they are anything but a genuine anti-terror coalition.

5- There is much to be alarmed about. True, the war on Syria has failed, but that doesn’t mean the only alternative is military escalation. At a time when Pentagon officials are recognising largely that military escalation is not going to work and that military engagement itself is what is preventing potential success for a diplomatic engagement, direct confrontation will not bring the Syrian government to the table and “keep it in line.”

6- The alliance of Iran, Syria, Russia, and Hezbollah are winning the ongoing war against terror. Right now, any military confrontation with the government of Syria is a confrontation not just with Damascus and Tehran, but with Russia. Given the level of Russia’s current involvement, the success of allied forces, and the current volatile relationship between Moscow and Washington, it is certainly the case now.

In plain English, direct US military intervention – more bombs, more regime change, and a quicker to a no-fly zone – will do nothing to bring peace to the Syrian people, nor will it affect regime change in Damascus. What the State Department is proposing and the Saudi vassals are after is a load of utter garbage that they will take with them to the grave. It is the kind of foolishness that is certain to lead to more than just political and military confrontation with Russia.
