Israeli warplanes launch several airstrikes on Gaza Strip

http://www.presstv.ir/Detail/2016/07/02/473168/Israeli-jets-launch-several-airstrikes-on-Gaza

Israeli warplanes have launched several airstrikes on the Gaza Strip in yet another act of aggression against the besieged Palestinian coastal territory. No casualties have yet been reported in the Saturday morning attacks that followed reports of an alleged rocket launch from Gaza on a vacant kindergarten in the town of Sderot in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The Israeli military frequently bombs the Gaza Strip. The disproportionate force is always used in violation of international law, and civilians are often killed or injured. In early July 2014, Israel waged a war on the Gaza Strip. The 50-day military aggression, which ended on August 26, 2014, killed nearly 2,200 Palestinians, including 577 children. Over 11,100 others – including 3,374 children, 2,088 women and 410 elderly people – were also wounded in the war. Israel continues to carry out attacks on the Palestinian strip from time to time.

Gaza has been blockaded since 2007, a situation that has caused a decline in the standard of living, unprecedented levels of unemployment, and unrelenting poverty. The apartheid regime of Israel denies about 1.8 million people in Gaza their basic rights, such as freedom of movement, proper job, and adequate healthcare and education. Israel imposes closure on al-Khalil, surrounding areas

http://www.presstv.ir/Detail/2016/07/01/473131/Israel-closes-alKhalil

Israel imposed a closure Friday on the occupied West Bank city of al-Khalil (Hebron) and its surrounding areas hours after an Israeli man was killed there. Peter Lerner, the spokesman for the Israeli military, said hundreds of troops were also deployed in the city. He said the move was one of the “most substantial steps on the ground” since 2014. The Israeli military official did not say how long the closure would last. Earlier in the day, an Israeli man was killed and three members of his family were injured when their car came under gunfire from a passing vehicle near al-Khalil.

The Israeli military said in a statement that an assailant opened fire at the family car as it was travelling near the Fawwar refugee camp, south of al-Khalil. The vehicle crashed as a result and flipped over. Also on Friday, Israeli forces shot dead a 27-year-old Palestinian woman, identified as Sarah Tarayra, after she allegedly attempted to carry out a stabbing attack near the revered Muslim religious monument of the Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil. On Thursday, Israelis killed a Palestinian teenager, claiming that he stabbed a 13-year-old resident of an illegal Israeli settlement.

The occupied Palestinian territories have been the scene of heightened tensions since August 2015, when Israel imposed restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds. Palestinians are angry at increasing violence by Israeli settlers at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound, saying the Tel Aviv regime seeks to change the status quo of the sacred site.

Commander: Over 100,000 Hezbollah Missiles Ready to Hit Enemy Targets in Israel

Lieutenant Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Hossein Salami disclosed that the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance group is in possession of over tens of thousands of missiles, which are all ready to launch and hit Israeli targets. “Today 100,000 missiles in Lebanon are ready to be fired at occupied territories,” General Salami said in his pre-sermon speech at Tehran’s Friday prayers. The Iranian commander underlined that the US support for Israel shows that this regime is not only an ally of Washington, but one of very close states for damaging Muslims. “The Zionist regime is the joint product of the strategic policies of the US and Britain in the Muslim world, that are aimed at keeping the Muslim World backward, depressed, buried in history and dependent on the US policies,” he added. Millions of Iranians took to the streets in all Iranian cities across the country on the International Quds Day on Friday to voice support for the Palestinian nation against the Israeli regime. Iranians across the country, including in the capital Tehran, alongside other people around the world held massive anti-Israel rallies on the last Friday of Ramadan in opposition to the continued occupation of the Palestinian land by Israel.

The International Quds Day was started by the late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, in 1979 as a way of expressing solidarity with the Palestinians and underscoring importance of the holy Quds to Muslims. International Quds Day is an annual event opposing Israel’s occupation of Beitul-Muqaddas. Anti-Zionist rallies and demonstrations are held on the last Friday of Ramadan in Muslim and Arab countries around the world, and especially in Iran. Iran Tehran, demonstrators chanted slogans in condemnation of the Zionists’ crimes in the occupied Palestinian lands. The fasting people were carrying placards, and chanting ‘Down with the US’ and ‘Down with Israel’. Demonstrators also stressed their readiness for defending the Palestinian cause. They also shouted protest against the silence shown by the international community and the so-called advocates of human rights against the crimes committed in the occupied lands.

Israel must cease settlement expansion in Palestine: Quartet report

http://www.presstv.ir/Detail/2016/07/01/473138/Middle-East-Quartet-report-Israel-settlements-construction-Gaza-blockade

A much-awaited report by the foursome of nations and entities involved in mediating the so-called peace process in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has called on the Tel Aviv regime to put an end to its settlement expansion activities in the occupied Palestinian territories. The Quartet on the Middle East – the United States, the European Union, the United Nations and Russia – said in the report on Friday that the Israeli settlements as well as the Tel Aviv regime’s demolition of Palestinian homes and expropriation of land were “steadily eroding the viability of the two-state solution.” “Israel should cease the policy of settlement construction and expansion, designating land for exclusive Israeli use, and denying Palestinian development,” the report added. “This raises legitimate questions about Israel’s long-term intentions, which are compounded by the statements of some Israeli ministers that there should never be a Palestinian state,” it pointed out.

The report also urged Israel to lift the blockade of the Gaza Strip, which has been in place since 2007 and has caused a decline in the standard of living, unprecedented levels of unemployment, and unrelenting poverty. The apartheid regime of Israel denies about 1.8 million people in Gaza their basic rights, such as freedom of movement, proper job, and adequate healthcare and education. Netanyahu rejects quartet report as ‘myth’ Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has dismissed the Middle East Quartet report, saying that it “perpetuates the myth that Israeli construction in the West Bank is an obstacle to peace.”

The Quartet report had been written following a meeting of its foreign affairs representatives in Munich, Germany, earlier this year. Its publications had been delayed for several times due to Israeli officials’ stiff opposition. The senior Quarter diplomats sought to explore the reasons behind a stalemate in the negotiations between Israel and Palestinians, and the revival of the so-called peace talks between the two sides.

International Quds Day: Why It Matters after so Many Decades?

http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13950410001229

On Friday, July 1, the Iranian nation and Muslims around the world once again take to the streets to raise their voice in support of the Palestinian people. Quds Day is held annually on the last Friday of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan during which demonstrators call for the liberation of Palestine and an end to the Israeli occupation. It was proclaimed in 1979 by the late Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Revolution as a religious duty for all Muslims to rally in solidarity against Israel and for the liberation of Al-Quds.

As always, efforts will be made in the West to trouble the rallies to make more difficult for people to take part in the event by calling them “anti-semitic, anti-Jewish, pro-Hamas, pro-Hezbollah event”, even on the grounds of the legislature, which is not surprising. After all, it was the West which created Israel in the first place. The key message here is that the Quds Day is not about hate speech or anti-semitism, and certainly not an attempt to demonise Jewish people. This is about condemning an apartheid regime that refuses to end occupation and state terrorism.

The widespread rallies send several other messages to the world community, in particular the United States and its allies, which continue to support Israel and its crimes against humanity in breach of international protocols:

1-It is lawful to tell Washington to stop supporting the bloody occupation of Palestine as it only brings further trouble and disgrace for the White House. Were it not for their support, the apartheid regime would have collapsed a long time ago.

2-It is lawful to tell the Arab officialdom to stop seeking help from Israel and the West to remain in power or put pressure on resistance groups such as Hezbollah, Hamas and Ansarullah.

3-It is lawful to advise the War Party in Washington to leave the Middle East. Besides the Palestinians, the people of Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Libya and Afghanistan are also suffering. They are sick and tired of the US-led and US-backed bloodletting, terrorism, proxy wars, sectarian warfare, general mayhem, as well as its bungled experiment with democracy in Muslim holy lands.

4-It is lawful to reaffirm that public participation in political affairs is still the most effective tool for Muslims to stop foreign powers from sowing discord, and occupying and destroying their communities.

5-It is lawful to raise awareness about the fact that it is as a consequence of discord and complicity in the Arab world that the Palestinians are still paying a heavy price under occupation.

The Israeli aggressors, backed by Western powers and propagandist media outlets, continue to harass and kill Palestinians or steal their lands under the nose of the international community and the United Nations is not doing anything about it. That said, despite baseless allegations made by some opportunistic politicians and media in the West, Tehran has no intention to use military warfare to wipe out Israel. Quite the opposite, the Islamic Republic has come up with a rational, fair, just and humane plan in the form of national referendum for the native population of the occupied territories – irrespective of their religion – that could help resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict once and for all. But until that happens, the annual rallies of Quds Day in support of the Palestinian cause will continue to: -Name and shame Israel and its cohorts -Bring the world’s attention to the endless sufferings in occupied Palestine -Reiterate Palestinians can and will liberate the Holy Land -Avoid pro-Israel political conflicts and differences -And denounce politicians for not supporting the Palestinian cause.

By extension, this is not hatred propaganda at all. The worldwide rallies set on creating awareness about the fact that pro-Israel currents and lobbies in the West are only seeking to tarnish the image of Islam, create a false image that Islam is a religion that provokes violence and hate against Jews, that the rallies are a clear exhibit of Antisemitism, and that Israel represents the Jewish community the world over. Far from it, Israel is a cadence of falsehood and falsehood is bound to perish. The racist regime works for the destruction of humanity and peace in world. It is past time for the international civil society to look into the plight of the Palestinians very seriously as it still matters after so many decades of Israeli occupation and state terrorism.

But one more fact should never be forgotten; when the so-called peace talks have repeatedly failed and the two-state solution has ended up in a deadlock only and only because of Israel’s continued atrocities, aggression and occupation and as the Zionist regime continues to kill the Palestinians, usurp their lands and detain and torture Palestinian citizens and officials with total disrespect for the world community and UN resolutions, Palestinians are by any definition and standard entitled to the right of self-defense to reciprocate Israel’s brutalities both in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

Israel’s continued massacre, arbitrary detentions, torturing, aggression and increasing pressures against the oppressed Palestinian population is identical to the continued crackdown on dissent exercised by another US ally in Bahrain, and both should take serious caution not to corner the oppressed people, for all war commanders have endorsed the warning issued by the world’s most renowned war strategist over 3,000 years ago that if you corner your foes and continue pressuring them, you will be the one most endangered as you have left them with no other option but to raid you with whatever they have within their possibilities to fight you to the last drop of their blood.
