(Before It's News)

At this point in 2012, Barack Obama led Mitt Romney in the Real Clear Politics polling average by a four points. In 2016, Hillary Clinton’s average lead against Donald Trump is seven points. That is due in part to a new Washington Post poll showing Hillary Clinton expanding her lead over Donald Trump.

From the WaPo

Hillary Clinton has emerged from the two major party conventions and their aftermath with an eight-point lead over Donald Trump, aided by a consolidation of support among Democrats and a failure so far by Republicans to rally equally behind their nominee, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

Clinton and her running mate, Sen. Tim Kaine (Va.), now lead Trump and his running mate, Gov. Mike Pence (Ind.), by 50 percent to 42 percent among registered voters, double the four-point advantage the Democrats held on the eve of the Republican convention in mid-July. Among likely voters, the Democratic nominee leads by 51 percent to 44 percent.

In a four-way race that includes Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson and Green Party nominee Jill Stein, Clinton leads Trump by 45 percent to 37 percent, with Johnson at 8 percent and Stein at 4 percent. Before the Republican convention, she had a four-percentage-point lead in a four-way matchup.

Clinton’s lead is eight points in a two way race and in a four person matchup. That’s terrific.

Other bad news in this poll is on the question of whether the candidate has the temperament and personality to be President and whether or not they have a good understanding of world affairs. It’s bleak for Trump (click for full size):

It just keeps on getting worse. The talk of a Trump “pivot” at this point hardly seems to matter. First, time is short. We’re three months from election day and for Trump to suddenly do a 180 and run a conventional campaign against a weak candidate thinking it would help is questionable at best. Second, Trump doesn’t seem to want to change. He enjoys going to his rallies and talking nonsense for an hour instead of attempting to lay out an agenda.

Sycophants like Eric Bolling of Fox News think Trump can run in a general election the same way he did in a the primaries and win. It’s a fool’s errand. He needed to make this move back in May when he secured the delegates needed for the nomination.

It is doubtful this gets any better.
