Trump Violated U.S. Law to Do Business With Castro’s Cuba

(Before It's News)

I remember shortly after Donald Trump entered the race for the presidency, when the GOP still had a lot of incredible conservative superstars to choose from, there came a time when Trump was questioned about Cuba.

His response stunned me, and I felt certain that this would be one of the points that sank him with conservative, pro-freedom voters:

He had no problem with doing business with Cuba. Cuba was great.

He was basically agreeing (again) with the left’s view of an oppressive, Communist regime.

I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised to see reports today that Trump had violated American trade bans in the late 80s, by doing business with Cuba.

The company, called Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts at the time, spent at least $68,000 during its 1988 “foray” into Cuba, the report said.

Executives at the company “funneled” the cash for the trip through an American consulting firm called Seven Arrows Investment and Development Corporation.

After the consultants went to Cuba, Seven Arrows helped Trump’s senior officers make the trip and expenses in Cuba look legal by linking it to a charitable effort, according to Newsweek.

But at the time, corporate expenditure in communist Cuba was illegal without the approval of the U.S. government.

This bit of news is especially amusing, considering that the payment happened at the time Trump was launching a bid for the presidency while part of the Reform party.

During that campaign, he said in Miami he would uphold the embargo and not spend of his companies’ money in Cuba until Fidel Castro was no longer in power.

Sooo… lie?

Trump Hotels did not obtain a license from the Federal Office of Foreign Asset Control to do business with Cuba – although it was highly unlikely they would get it – therefore, the business transaction was illegal, under federal law.

Add this to the ever-growing pile of scandal and filth that trail behind Trump and his businesses.

This is what we’re faced with: A corrupt businessman or a corrupt politician to run our nation.

Unbelievable.
