Truly, anybody who expects Donald Trump to hold up his promises, whether it’s paying his bills or keeping campaign promises, are both deluded and naïve.
He has a long history of getting out of paying his debts (and then bragging about it, later).
That’s why the latest report of his stiffing a veteran Republican pollster, Tony Fabrizio, is no huge shock.
It’s disgusting, but not shocking.
The campaign’s latest Federal Election Commission (FEC) report shows it contesting $766,756.67 that Fabrizio’s firm says it is owed for polling, The Washington Post reported Monday.
FEC records show the debt to Fabrizio Lee, the pollster’s Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based firm., listed as a “contested” expense.
The records also include a separate $55,300 debt to his organization that is not contested.
Frankly, I’m shocked to learn Trump’s camp actually employed any polling.
Fabrizio, a friend of former Trump campaign manager, Paul Manafort, has worked in the past with former presidential nominee, Bob Dole, and Florida Governor Rick Scott.
So while Fabrizio’s firm is not getting paid, Trump spokeswoman, Kellyanne Conway’s firm is one of four other polling firms employed, who is getting paid.
One of the firms belongs to current campaign manager Kellyanne Conway and has received $673,000 through Oct. 19, filings show.
New York Magazine reported Saturday that Trump and son-in-law Jared Kushner have both disagreed with Fabrizio over campaign strategy in recent weeks. Kushner and Trump reportedly clashed with Fabrizio about focus groups and campaign ads.
Kushner is involved in a lot of the funky stories that surround the Trump camp, isn’t he?
I have a hard time feeling sorry for Fabrizio, actually. Was he not familiar with Trump’s reputation?
He’s a deadbeat.
Caveat emptor, Mr. Fabrizio. Caveat emptor.
