(Before It's News)

Elaine Chao, wife of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and former Labor Secretary under George W. Bush, is now expected to be Donald Trump’s Secretary of Transportation, according to rumors floating around Twitter and now formalized at Politico:

Former Labor Secretary Elaine Chao is set to be announced later Tuesday as President-elect Donald Trump’s choice to lead the Department of Transportation, multiple sources familiar with the decision confirmed Tuesday morning.

Chao, who ran the Labor Department under President George W. Bush, met with the incoming president at Trump Tower last week and discussed labor and transportation policy, Trump’s transition team said then.

The formal announcement is expected at 1 p.m., one source said.

Chao’s work at the Labor Department is widely considered by Republicans and conservatives to have been good. As an Asian-American woman, she offers more diversity to a supposedly racist and sexist man’s administration. Double points for being a minority woman that the Democrats launched multiple racist attacks against during McConnell’s re-election bid in 2014.
