Chuck Schumer Tweets An Often Debunked Myth About Planned Parenthood
Planned Parenthood is nearly a legendary organization. They have “Parenthood” in their name despite relying heavily on keeping women from being a parent through abortion. Planned Parenthood attempts to downplay their reliance on abortion as a means of staying in business, arguing it is only 3% of the “services” they provide. They and their supporters tout themselves as the arbiter of all things wonderful about women and the last line of defense in protecting women from the horrors of the male patriarchy. It’s their reliance on an overblown importance that keeps them going.
The fact is, abortion makes up nearly 40% of their revenue. Handing a woman a condom is considered by PP to be a “service,” so that is how they hide their abortion-heavy business model. Other myths include them arguing if their clinics are closed, women have no other options and bogus claim they are the only solution for poor women.
Then there is the famous mammogram myth. Senator Charles Schumer repeated it in this tweet:

It is hard to count how many times the myth that Planned Parenthood performs mammograms has been debunked. The Washington Post fact-checker gave it three Pinocchios. There wasn’t an investigation that needed to be conducted. It was Planned Parenthood’s President, Cecile Richards, who admitted in Congressional testimony, PP didn’t perform mammograms:
Richards said during the hearing that Planned Parenthood clinics do not have mammogram machines. The Federal Drug Administration’s list, updated weekly, of certified mammography facilities does not list any Planned Parenthood clinics.
This always raises an obvious question: If Planned Parenthood is such a wonderful organization, why are its supporters always lying about it?
