Kurdish-Led Forces of Euphrates Rage Operation Advance towards Raqqa

The predominantly Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) continued to advance against the ISIL to liberate Raqqa city and managed to take control of three villages.

The Kurdish forces engaged in clashes with the ISIL terrorists in Abu Khashab region, and gained control of Moshirefeh al-Shahanat, al-Qasaneh and Farsat Abu Ismail in Eastern Raqqa.

Meantime, the SDF forces besieged one of the most important ISIL bases in al-Karameh town.

Also, on the third day of the military operations to liberate al-Tabaqa dam (Euphrates dam), the SDF continued advances and won control of a large area of lands.

According to local sources, they are now advancing towards al-Tabaqa town and the Euphrates dam from the South-West and North-East.

Prior to the victory, the SDF engaged in fierce clashes with the ISIL and managed to take control of several regions near al-Tabaqa dam.

The SDF forces gained control of Abu Harireh, al-Moshirefeh, al-Karin and al-Mahmiyeh villages after fierce clashes with the ISIL terrorists and cut off the Raqqa-Aleppo road with the aim of seizing control over al-Tabaqa dam.

They also won control over al-Jadida and Mokhit villages, 33km East of Raqqa, after heavy fighting with the ISIL and killing tens of them.

The Euphrates Rage Operation forces had also on Saturday managed to take control of several regions East of the terrorist group’s self-proclaimed capital, Raqqa.

The SDF forces seized control of Abu Khashab train station in the Northern parts of al-Karameh town in Eastern Raqqa after heavy clashes with the terrorists.

Iraqi Police Seize ISIL Command Center in Western Mosul’s Old City

Iraqi Federal Police forces seized on Friday an ISIL command center in Central Mosul’s Old City as operations press on to recapture the district from the terror group.

The Iraqi Federal Police chief, Shaker Jawdat, said the forces found documents, explosive devices, weapons and communication sets inside the facility, Iraqi News reported.

Iraqi government forces recaptured Eastern Mosul in January and launched an offensive in February to recapture the western region. Iraqi troops are currently working to retake central Mosul districts from ISIL militants, specifically eyeing the city’s grand mosque where the group’s ring leade held his infamous speech in 2014.

Iraqi generals have viewed the Old City as vital for realizing victory against ISIL in the Western side, but also admitted it was very difficult to advance through with military vehicles.

Bad weather over the past few days has further hardened the troops’ mission, prompting the commanders to rely on drones and artillery strikes to bring down militants shielding themselves in the middle of civilians.

Generals from the Iraqi military command have reiterated that ISIL powers were waning, with many senior leaders either killed or escaped.
