Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Repulses Al-Nusra Attack on Gov’t Forces’ Military Positions in Homs

The Syrian army continued its advances in Homs and repelled the Takfiri terrorists’ attempted attack to take control of the government forces’ military positions in the Northern part of the province.

The Al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) terrorists were pushed back from the surrounding areas of Syrian army’s military positions in the Northern part of Homs province.

The Syrian army inflicted heavy losses on the terrorists in other key provinces across Syria.

Homs

The Syrian Army troops fended off a heavy attack of the Al-Nusra Front on government forces’ positions in Northern Homs, while the country’s Air Force destroyed a command post of the terrorists in the same region.

The Al-Nusra terrorists started attacking government positions in Molouk region from their positions in the towns of Talbiseh and al-Qantou, but failed to prevail over the army positions.

The Al-Nusra suffered a number of casualties and its military vehicles sustained major damage in the failed attack.

In the meantime, Syrian warplanes carried out repeated combat flights over the positions of the Al-Nusra, Ahrar al-Sham and Rejal Allah in the town of al-Rastan and its surroundings in Northern Homs, destroying their positions, including a command post and killing the entire terrorists inside the post.

Also, the Syrian Air Force bombed heavily ISIL’s defense lines and moves in Jabal (mount) al-Mazar and Jabal al-Haram regions and at the wheat silos East of Palmyra on Monday, killing tens of terrorists, including foreign Arabs and others from non-Arab states.

Several military vehicles of ISIL and their equipment were also destroyed in the attack.

In the meantime, the army troops engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL in Talileh region Southeast of Palmyra, leaving a number of terrorists dead or wounded.

Also, the army’s artillery units pounded the positions of the Al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) in the villages of Kafr Laha and Taldou in al-Houleh region, inflicting a number of casualties on the terrorists.

Aleppo

The Syrian Army troops and aircraft launched heavy strikes on the positions and gathering centers of the Al-Nusra Front and other terrorist groups in regions West, North-West and South-West of Aleppo city, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.

The army’s artillery and missile units pounded heavily the positions of the terrorists in the districts of al-Rashedeen 4 and 5 in the Southwestern outskirts of Aleppo city to the Western direction of the Journalists’ Association district, Khan al-Asal settlement, the Research Center area, al-Mansoureh settlement, Western direction of Family House neighborhood, Tal (hill) Showeiheneh, West of Jam’iyat al-Zahra district and Zahrat Abd Rabeh region, inflicting major unspecified number of casualties on the terrorists.

In the meantime, the fighter jets bombed the positions of terrorists in Khan al-Asal, Qabtan al-Jabal (mount), Dar al-Izza town West of Aleppo city, the towns of Khan Touman, Khalseh, al-Zerbeh in Southern Aleppo and Kafr Hamra and Haraytan towns North-West of Aleppo city.

Military reports said that the army units engaged in heavy fighting with the terrorists West of Jam’iyat al-Zahra district and Journalists’ Association, near Khan al-Asal, Tal Soweiheneh and Family House.

The source added that the army intends to cut off the terrorists’ lines of movements between Northern and Western Aleppo that are the house to the Al-Nusra and Nouralddeen al-Zinki Movement’s strongholds.

According to the Russian General Staff, the Syrian government forces encircled ISIL terrorists Northeast of Aleppo province.

The Syrian government forces have encircled ISIL Terrorists in Aleppo province, the Russian General Staff said Tuesday.

“In the northeast province of Aleppo, government troops and militia units, continuing an offensive, completely blocked a large group of terrorists in the vicinity of Deir Hafer,” chief of the Russian General Staff Main Operational Directorate Col. Gen. Sergei Rudskoy said.

Rudskoy said at a briefing “an operation is currently underway to destroy it” with backing from the Russian Aerospace Forces.

Hama

The Syrian Army troops stormed the defense lines of the Al-Nusra Front in Northern Hama and managed to take back control over a settlement and several regions after inflicting tens of casualties on the terrorists.

The army units restarted clashes with Al-Nusra West of Mahradeh town, and drove them out of Ma’arzaf settlement, killing tens of terrorists including several members of al-Turkistani group.

Al-Nusra’s military vehicles also sustained major damage in the attack.

Also, the army soldiers attacked terrorists’ positions and managed to advance towards Majdal village, while the army’s artillery units targeted terrorists’ centers in the same region.

Local sources reported that the army men also pushed terrorists back from their positions and won back al-Maqaber (cemetery) and al-Matahen regions West of Qomhana town.

Meantime, a notorious field commander of the Idlib Free Army was killed in the Syrian Army troops’ advances against the terrorist groups in Northwestern Hama, military sources said on Tuesday.

The sources said that Mohammad Kamal al-Qasim nom de guerre Abu Rabi’a, a senior commander of the Idlib Free Army, was killed in battle with the army soldiers in Northwestern Hama.

The sources added that the army men that freed the settlement of Ma’arzaf earlier on Tuesday managed to drive terrorists out of Soubin village in Northwestern Hama.

They went on to say that Abu Rabi’a was the second commander of Sawt al-Haq battalion of the Idlib Free Army that was killed in clashes with the army men.

Also the army targeted the movements of the terrorists in areas near al-Salamiyah town on Monday, restoring security to a road connecting the town to Homs city.

Damascus

The Syrian Army troops continued to drive the Al-Nusra Front (also known as Fatah al-Sham Front or the Levant Liberation Board) out of more positions in the Eastern and Northeastern territories of Damascus province, killing over 800 terrorists in two battlefields.

The army forces engaged in fierce clashes with Al-Nusra in a region between the districts of Jobar and al-Qaboun and seized control over al-Mar river that is behind al-Abbaseen region.

Well-informed sources said that over 800 Al-Nusra terrorists have been killed in the battles with the army soldiers in Jobar and al-Qaboun.

The sources added that the army has made use of advanced arms and missiles in the battle against the terrorists in Jobar and al-Qaboun.

Dara’a

The Syrian Army soldiers engaged in heavy fighting with Al-Nusra Front in Dara’a al-Balad district and fended off their attack, inflicting tens of casualties on them.

The army men exchanged fire with the Al-Nusra terrorists in several areas in al-Manshiyeh neighborhood, repelling their attack and killing tens of them.

Al-Nusra’s military vehicles were also destroyed in the attack.

In the meantime, the army’s missile units shelled terrorists’ movements in Ba’ar al-Shayah region in the Southern part of Dara’a city, al-Saad (dam) road and in the two neighborhoods of al-Bahar and al-Karak, inflicting heavy losses on the militants.

Deir Ezzur

Syrian Army troops in a preemptive move targeted the gatherings and movements of the ISIL terrorists in the Western outskirts of Deir Ezzur, preventing their move towards the city’s districts.

The army soldiers stormed ISIL’s gathering centers and movements in al-Sonouf hill near 137th regiment region and foiled their attack on al-Tanmiyeh district in the Western outskirts of Deir Ezzur city, killing the entire members of the group and destroying their equipment and bulldozer.

A source in Southern Deir Ezzur said that nine ISIL terrorists were killed in clashes with the army men in al-Maqaber (cemetery) region.

Also, the army’s artillery units launched heavy artillery and air assaults on ISIL’s concentration centers in areas near Deir Ezzur’s airbase, al-Maqaber region, 137th regiment region and other areas South-West of the city on Monday, killing a number of terrorists and destroying two military vehicles.

Sweida

The Syrian Army forces took back almost 300sq/km of land in Northeastern Sweida after ISIL terrorist group pulled its fighters back from 14 villages, local sources said.

The sources said that ISIL has left the villages of Khirbet al-Sa’ad, al-Qasr, Bastareh, Rajm al-Daleh, al-Saqiyeh, Tal Asfar, al-Fadyan, al-Shohayb al-Qarbi, al-Shohayb al-Sharqi, Tal Masitabeh, Taloul Salman, al-Shafraney, al-Sweimereh and Ba’ar al-Qasab East of the main road connecting Damascus to Sweida.

They added that the army men took control of the villages after ISIL’s withdrawal.

The army’s artillery units and the country’s warplanes targeted ISIL’s movements and position as the terrorists were withdrawing from the villages.

An informed military source said that ISIL has been faced with a shortage of forces due to its simultaneous clashes with the army in Eastern Aleppo and Palmyra as well as the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces in Raqqa.

The source added that the army is now in control of some 300 sq/km of lands in Northeastern Sweida.

Also, the Syrian Army’s artillery units opened heavy fire at ISIL’s concentration centers and movements in Eastern Sweida on Monday, killing over ten terrorists and destroying a number of their military vehicles.

The artillery units shelled ISIL’s positions and movements in the hills of al-Shaheib and in Abar al-Dayaseh region, leaving more than ten militants dead and a number of their vehicles destroyed.
