(Before It's News)

The founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange held a press conference on Thursday morning to announce that they will be giving information they have obtained on the CIA’s hacking capabilities to tech companies.

From The Hill:

Assange said the organization will give details to let technology companies “develop fixes” before the information is published more widely, USA Today reported.

“We have decided to work with them,” Assange said during an online press conference on Thursday. “To give them some exclusive access to some of the technical details we have, so that fixes can be pushed out.”

On Tuesday, WikiLeaks released what is being tagged across social media as “Vault 7,” a collection of CIA hacking tools, engineering notes, communications, and methods used by the intelligence agency to covertly gather information.

There is no proof that these methods are being used on American citizens, at this point. The stated purpose of any hacking program would be to gather information from foreign agencies that may be a threat to U.S. security.

Not everyone is thrilled with the news.

Senate Armed Services member Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) responded to Assange’s press conference with a statement Thursday.

“Julian Assange should spend the rest of his life wearing an orange jumpsuit. He’s an enemy of the American people and an ally to Vladimir Putin.

“Mr. Assange has dedicated his life’s work to endangering innocent lives, abetting despots, and stoking a crisis of confidence in the West.”

Yeah, remember that time when WikiLeaks released documents regarding U.S. troop movements in the Middle East and endangered our men and women on the ground there?

The same people condemning Assange and his organization as enemies of the American people then are cheering him on, now.

Hypocrites.
