This last outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) proved that things can get bad fast. In the near future, you might find yourself trying to avoid a pandemic!
In the event of a pandemic, infected individuals may or may NOT show any symptoms or sign of the illness. You must remain vigilant and take no chances. A fast moving contagion will hit hard and will likely burn through society very quickly. You need to have some basic concepts of how to avoid becoming another pandemic victim.
Tips to help you avoid a pandemic Prevention efforts focus on avoiding contact with viruses. The following precautions can help prevent infection disease
If things get really hot and the contagion is spreading through your area, be prepared to lock yourself in your home. A self imposed quarantine against those spreading the illness may be your last line of defense. Rely on your food storage and stored water, if you can, until things return to normal.
If you don’t have enough provisions, be prepared to forage or shop in the dead of night, to avoid people. Wear gloves, masks and eye protection and use self checkout lanes, if possible. Get to an isolated area, remove and dispose of exposed protective wear and immediately sanitize or wash your hands. Then rewash/sanitize your hands before entering your home, then immediately after entering your home, in a dedicated quarantine/airlock type of area (an entry room or foyer).

This is a good article. The writer is he FIRST person since the outbreak has started, other than CDC or WHO, that discusses precautions and really takes this matter seriously. I just finished reading an article written by a dr, affiliated with the University of Minnesota. He said the matter of ebola is being understated. If the virus mutates, and possibly could, the transmission could be airborne. A final note. I just finished reading a book on the 1918 Spanish Flu Pandemic, which I feel everyone should at least get the facts on. The numbers of those who died is approximately 100 million worldwide. The author concludes the book by saying the world is most likely not prepared for another pandemic, not that it was in 1918.
